Title: Technical Illustrator
Location: Tukwila, WA 98108
Duration: 9 months contract with possible extension

st shift 7:30 flexible start time
Pay Rate: $45/hr. on w2 without benefits
Job Description:
- Create, modify, and deliver technical illustrations, diagrams, full color graphics, and 2D/3D animations for support engineering products and services.
- Develop interactive electronic media to support troubleshooting, maintenance procedures, and training.
- Analyze source data (engineering drawings, schematics, technical manuals, photographs, and subject matter expert input) to inform and validate multimedia content.
- Apply and support established illustration and graphics development standards, templates, style guides, and naming/version-control conventions.
- Maintain, catalog, and store multimedia assets in designated repositories to ensure accessibility, reuse, and configuration management compliance.
- Assist in compliance reviews to ensure media meet applicable technical standards, company specifications, and regulatory requirements.
- Support testing and quality checks of multimedia deliverables (visual accuracy, resolution, format, interactivity, accessibility).
- Address designer-level technical problems and provide practical solutions that meet project requirements and schedules.
- Collaborate frequently with technical writers, engineers, support teams, training developers, and configuration management to integrate multimedia into deliverables.
- Participate in research into new tools, techniques, and industry best practices; recommend potential improvements to workflows and toolsets.
- Provide guidance to junior designers (Level 1) on routine tasks and follow established processes to ensure consistent output quality.
Required Skills:
- Typically 2+ years of relevant professional experience producing technical illustrations, animations, and interactive media typically.
- Typically 2+ years of experience with aircraft maintenance and/or modifications
- Typically 2+ years of experience interpreting engineering drawings, schematics, and technical documentation to create accurate visuals.
- Proficient with graphic art tools or equivalent to Boeing Graphic Art "BOGART"
- Effective problem solving skills with the ability to address moderate-scope technical issues independently.
- Good verbal and written communication skills to collaborate with engineers, technical writers, and stakeholders.
- Ability to organize and manage multiple assets and tasks to meet project milestones.
Preferred Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, Multimedia Design, Visual Communications, Digital Media, Technical Illustration, or related field - or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 5+ years of experience supporting aerospace, defense, or complex engineering products.
- Familiarity with technical illustration standards and formats common in aerospace (e.g., S1000D, ATA iSpec 2200, or proprietary company formats).
- Experience with 3D CAD model viewers and converting CAD data into illustrative/animation assets.
- Knowledge of scripting for automation (e.g., Python, JavaScript) to streamline asset production or batch processing.
- Certifications in relevant tools or accessibility/design standards.
Education / Experience:
- Education/experience typically acquired through advanced education (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 3 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience (e.g. Master+1 years' related work experience , 7 years' related work experience, etc.).
