JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Subject Matter Expert- Penn State Great Valley, School of Graduate and Professional Studies A-I 850 / DAAN 850: Autonomous AI Agents (Graduate Level)

Penn State Great Valley, located in Malvern PA, is seeking a Subject Matter Expert (SME) to support the development of an 800-level graduate course focused on autonomous AI agents and LLM-based systems. The course emphasizes applied design, enterprise integration, multi-agent architectures, prompt engineering, planning and reasoning systems, tool invocation, and responsible deployment of AI agents in real-world contexts. The SME will be partnered with an Instructional Designer

Job Duties
  • Develop and review advanced technical content across 15 course modules.
  • Contribute real-world case studies, lab concepts, and applied assignments.
  • Advise on agent architectures, orchestration frameworks, and enterprise deployment practices.
  • Support development of a capstone group project involving a deployable AI agent system.
  • Collaborate with instructional design and faculty teams.
Requirements and Qualifications
  • Skillset in Computer Science, AI, Data Science, or related field.
  • Demonstrated expertise in LLM-based systems, prompt engineering, RAG, and multi-agent architectures.
  • Experience deploying AI systems in enterprise or research environments.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience teaching or mentoring graduate students.
  • Knowledge of AI governance, compliance, and production-scale deployment.
  • Familiarity with agent orchestration frameworks (e.g., LangChain, AutoGen, CrewAI).

This is a project-based engagement supporting development of a high-impact graduate course preparing students to design and deploy autonomous AI systems in professional environments.
