Job Title: Manufacturing Technician - Finishing
Location: Hartford, WI
Shift: 1 st Shift - 6:00AM - 6:00PM
2 nd Shift - 6:00PM - 6:00AM
Pay Range: $17.00 - $19.00 / Hour
Job Summary:
Under the direction of the Production Supervisor and the Master Tech, the Manufacturing Technician - Finishing ( a.k.a Finishing Technician) is responsible for performing a variety of assignments related to regular and special department functions to ensure the mold continuously flows thru the Cell with minimal to no interruption in the process. Finishing Technicians are responsible for ensuring the parts are defect free, meet customer specifications and are shipped to the customer.
Responsibilities:
  • Comply with all safety and health guidelines, quality standard practices/procedures and housekeeping standards.
  • Reading Finishing cell standard practices and procedures in the Switchboard system.
  • Provide information to master tech on improvements to standard practices or finishing cell procedures.
  • Visually checking the quality of parts and fixing/welding to customer specifications.
  • Maintain electronic files on Switchboard, if any changes or adjustments are needed to process the job quicker.
  • Tapping holes in parts to customer specifications.
  • Operating equipment such as a surface grinder, bending and straightening parts using machines/presses based on customer specifications. Grinding off gate witnesses to customer specifications by operating a variety of manual and CNC machines.
  • Detecting cracks in parts (mag particles), if applicable.
  • Heat treating parts to customer specifications and measuring hardness of parts.
  • Performing preventative maintenance on the daily checklists of inspecting hose nozzles, sand blasters, cleaning inside of equipment, and greasing fittings.
  • Sending parts to outside subcontractors and receiving and inspecting parts upon return.
  • Preparing product for shipment based on customer specifications and performing random quality checks on outgoing parts.
  • Assist in the training of any new hires.
  • Dependable and reliable attendance required.
  • Ensures product is not moved to the next operation until the required inspection and tests are complete. The process of moving the product, including utilizing the ASRS, confirms that the product was inspected and passed inspection.
  • If applicable, back-up up for other areas if the continuous flow manufacturing process is interrupted to remove any backlogs. This could include working in the Wax Cell, Melt Cell, or Finishing Cell.
  • If certified on the forklift or power pallet jack, load and unload trucks, receiving and delivering incoming packages and if applicable, shipping packages UPS.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or HSED/GED equivalent preferred.
  • Must possess good computer skills and be able to learn new skills as needed.
  • 1-2 years previous experience
  • Effectively communicate with other employees to share information, solves problems, and instruct or train lesser skilled employees.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as part drawings, shop orders, work plans, and short correspondence.
  • Must be able to write standard reports and documentation.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Ability to operate various equipment to include computer, various precision measuring devices and lifting devices.
  • Requires a broad knowledge of tooling, material characteristics, and general manufacturing and machining practices.
  • Should be knowledgeable and/or familiar with applicable ISO/TS and quality system requirements and policies.
Physical Requirements:
  • Able to sit, talk and/or hear, and/or use hands to finger, handle, or touch objects, tools, or controls.
  • Occasionally required to stand, and/or walk.
  • Able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
