Assistant Nurse Manager - 6A Acute Care for Elderly (ACE)

Full Time (80 hours/pay) - Day/Evening/Midnight commitment

Schedule rotation depending on the needs of the department

ChristianaCare Newark Hospital is seeking an Assistant Nurse Manager - 6A Acute Care for Elderly, for our 39-bed geriatric telemetry inpatient unit. In this role, the Assistant Nurse Manager will assist and support the Nurse Manager in the clinical and administrative activities of the department in order to ensure patients receive exceptional care. The ACE unit focuses on the care of geriatric (65 years old or greater) medical/surgical patients.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervises all nursing and technical personnel: Assesses competency of staff, oversees daily staffing and scheduling needs of department, evaluate staff performance, counsel/coach staff member as needed.
  • Participates in hiring, promotion, and termination decisions.
  • Functions as role model, demonstrating quality expertise and professional behaviors.
  • Directs, mentors and supports all levels of staff.
  • Develops, implements and monitors performance improvement and patient safety initiatives.
  • Identifies and develops strategies to improve the overall knowledge base and professionalism of staff.
  • Analyzes administrative and operational functions; implements appropriate changes and system wide improvements.

  • 65 years & older patient population
  • Medical/Surgical floor
  • Common Patient Diagnosis' include Stroke, COPD, UTI, PNA, Delirium, CHF and more.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • RN License in the state of Delaware or compact state.
  • Bachelor's degree in nursing required.
  • Master's degree in nursing required within 3 years.
  • Professional certification in a related nursing specialty required.
  • Three years' appropriate acute care, clinical experience required.
  • BLS Certification required.
  • Leadership experience preferred.
Annual Compensation Range $110,177.60 - $176,280.00 This pay rate/range represents ChristianaCare's good faith and reasonable estimate of compensation at the time of posting. The actual salary within this range offered to a successful candidate will depend on individual factors including without limitation skills, relevant experience, and qualifications as they relate to specific job requirements.
