DESCRIPTION Under general supervision, performs waived, moderate, and high complexity testing; evaluates test results; performs and evaluates quality control procedures; performs preventive maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting. Provides laboratory services in a timely manner and consistently delivers excellent customer service. Serves as a technical resource for customers and other staff. Adheres to all safety policies. Performs other related CLS functions as required. The description and qualifications of this position have been slightly modified as of 5/11/2026. * Please note that this position has 2 openings: one opening to be hired at the CLS level and one opening to be hired at a CLS Specialist level. * MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS For Clinical Lab Scientist: Bachelor's degree in a related scientific field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Current California Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) license. Applicable clinical laboratory experience. For Clinical Lab Scientist, Specialist: Bachelor's degree with a major in an appropriate scientific field. Current California Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) license. Minimum of two (2) years of relevant Clinical Laboratory Scientist experience. Demonstrated advanced technical knowledge within the applicable specialty area. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Experience with SoftLab LIS and Epic. Experience with automated instrumentation including Iris iChem/iQ, GEM4000, TEG, and Roche Cobas. Generalist experience in Hematology and Chemistry. Previous hospital laboratory experience. Experience with Sysmex and ACL Top hematology analyzers. SPECIAL CONDITIONS Must be able to work all shifts, weekends, holidays, overtime and at various locations as necessary in accordance with operational needs. Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical. Clinical Lab Scientist Per Diem (Title Code: 8956) hourly rate: $56.69. Clinical Lab Scientist, Specialist Per Diem (Title Code: 8959) hourly rate: $74.27 Pay Transparency Act Annual Full Pay Range: $118,369 - $118,369 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%) Hourly Equivalent: $56.69 - $56.69 Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
