Responsibilities

JOB SUMMARY

This position is responsible for the coordination of all Howmet Transport Services, Inc. (HTS), Department of Transportation (DOT), safety and employee health and safety (EHS) training, filings, submissions and compliance to applicable rules and associated guidelines. The position must ensure that Howmet Transport Services, Inc. and Howmet Logistics Services comply with DOT and OSHA regulations. This position coordinates EHS through the EHS Managers at various Howmet locations, vendor sites and customer locations. The Transportation Compliance/Safety Specialist partners with HTSI with the team's success in controlling costs. This position contributes to the HTS Truck lines overall performance and compliance regard to Regulations of DOT and OSHA Standards for the facility and HTS/HLS/Truck line agency drivers.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

* Prioritize, guide and facilitate the activities of the HTS team to meet organizational goals, initiatives and requirements.
* Oversee the development and deployment of standard policies, procedures and practices to ensure customer requirements, ASAT's, and EHS directives are embodied in the HTS system.
* Administer the implementation of the HTS/DOT safety system to assure the flow-down of industry, customer and corporate standards.
* Manage driver files for DOT compliance as well as reviewing, interviewing and recommending drivers for hire and/or termination.
* File all accidents and claims with our risk management team and our insurance provider.
* Keep accident and incident logs up to date with statements, pictures and all relevant data associated to the accident or incident.
* Driver advocate - managing training, on road needs, tolling systems, scale pass systems, electronic logging systems and on road camera systems.

Qualifications

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

* Bachelor's degree from accredited institution and 3 years' experience in the transportation industry OR
* Minimum 5 years' experience in the transportation industry and a high school diploma or GED.
* This position requires a working knowledge of DOT and OSHA regulations.
* Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
* This position entails access to export-controlled items and employment offers are conditioned upon an applicant's ability to lawfully obtain access to such items. A College degree in a related field and/or experience in the trucking industry would be beneficial.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

* Experience with Microsoft Office programs.
* Strong communication skills, both oral and written, to assist in effectively interacting with customers, suppliers, or employees within the company.
* Strong interpersonal skills to develop rapport with driver base domiciled across the country.
* Strong organizational skills.
* A College degree in a related field and/or experience in the trucking industry.
