Department OverviewThe Core Platforms & Services team is responsible for the development and operations of critical cloud infrastructure, platform services, and software services in support of Motorola Solutions' public and hybrid cloud-based Software as a Service (SaaS) solutions for public safety customers. This team is part of Motorola Solutions' Global Product organization, which offers secure, reliable, and efficient team communications, workflow, and operational intelligence solutions for mission-critical public safety and enterprise markets globally. As an Engineering Manager, you will lead the Team responsible for the development and maintenance of Interfaces for the Record & Jail systems to integrate with 3rd party vendors/products. You will be expected to demonstrate excellent leadership, coaching, and communication skills. You will lead the definition of engineering requirements, architecture, establish processes, and engage in planning of engineering deliverables for the team.

Specific Knowledge/Skills:
  • Bachelor's degree, emphasis on Engineering, Computer Science or a related field

  • 7+ years of industry software engineering experience, including programming

  • 3+ years of experience leading development teams

  • Successful track record in developing high-performing software teams through hiring, retaining and mentoring team members

  • Understanding of software production process and toolchain: development environments, version control, testing, cybersecurity and deployment processes

  • Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills

  • Unblock teams by providing the resources required for them to be successful

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in communicating with customers and product management to understand use cases, describe software product features and designs

  • Experience in attracting, hiring and building a team of talented developers

This position is subject to working in high security areas governed by the US Department of Justice's "Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Security Policy" and therefore requires successfully passing a more stringent fingerprint background checkadministered by Motorola Solutions Inc. customers.

Target Base Salary Range: $150,000 - $168,500 USD
Consistent with Motorola Solutions values and applicable law, we provide the following information to promote pay transparency and equity. Pay within this range varies and depends on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The actual offer will be based on the individual candidate.

Basic Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree, emphasis on Engineering, Computer Science or a related field

  • 7+ years of industry software engineering experience including programming

  • 3+ years of experience leading development teams

  • Must be able to obtain background clearance as required by government customer.
