Overview

Support the strategic development and ongoing management of standard personal lines products and geographic presence. Lead competitive analysis and datadriven research to develop and present recommendations for new products, product enhancements, services, and other innovations that drive profitable growth and support portfolio diversification. Collaborate crossfunctionally with Claims, Underwriting, Marketing, Actuarial, Legal, and other partners to identify needs and opportunities and to design, file, and implement approved product changes. Manage and negotiate the prioritization of regulatory change requirements within the broader strategic product roadmap.

Responsibilities

"Job will be considered remote until completion of HQ move to Short Hills, NJ in late 2026. Employee must be willing to travel to current HQ in Branchville, NJ, on an as-needed basis until the transition is complete."

  • Support the development and ongoing management of standard personal lines products including development and execution of the personal lines strategic roadmap.
  • Conduct competitive, market, and datadriven analysis to identify opportunities and develop recommendations that drive profitable growth. Develop and present datasupported product proposals and business cases to leadership and key stakeholders.
  • Lead crossfunctional collaboration with Line of Business Leaders, Claims, Underwriting, Marketing, Actuarial, and Legal, to design, file, and implement projects in support of the strategic roadmap.
  • Manage product development initiatives from end to end, including concept and design, requirements building, regulatory filing and approval, and launch. Monitor and report on post-implementation results.
  • Identify value-add opportunities to compliment traditional product offerings. Partner with the Marketing and/or Innovation team to evaluate and deliver.
  • Monitor regulatory developments, assess the impact on personal lines products, and communicate impactful changes across the business unit. Set strategy and plans for incorporating regulatory change projects into the overall personal lines strategic roadmap. Lead projects in collaboration with Line of Business, Product, Underwriting, Actuarial and others as needed to ensure regulatory changes are implemented on time.
  • Develops form language in collaboration with Line of Business, Claims, and Legal, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and compliance with state regulations.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for personal lines products and services.

Qualifications

Knowledge and Requirements

  • Strong technical underwriting knowledge
  • Strong working knowledge of ISO circulars and bulletins and competitor analysis
  • Ability to research independently
  • Ability to research analyze coverage
  • Ability to communicate needs and collaborate with core stakeholders to complete
  • Ability to manage a project independently
  • Proactive; driven; takes initiative
  • Strong technical skills: Excel, Cognos, SQL, Access and other similar applications

Education and Experience

  • College degree preferred.
  • 5+ years Product Management or other insurance-related experience.
  • The following experience is preferred:
  • 5+ years specific line of business experience;
  • 5+ years Risk Management;
  • 5+ years Product Development

The actual base salary is based on geographic location, and the range is representative of salaries for this role throughout Selective's footprint. Additional considerations include relevant education, qualifications, experience, skills, performance, and business needs.
