Interstates is currently seeking a full-time Manufacturing Engineer to join our Manufacturing team. This role is responsible for improving production processes, supporting product development, and driving continuous improvement initiatives across our manufacturing operations. An ideal candidate will be analytical, solutions-driven, and collaborative, with a passion for efficiency and innovation. Responsibilities:

Process Optimization



  • Analyze and improve manufacturing processes to increase productivity, reduce costs, and enhance quality
  • Evaluate workflow, equipment placement, and space utilization
  • Review labor and production costs to support data-driven decision making
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations


Design & Development



  • Partner with Engineering and cross-functional teams to ensure manufacturability of new products
  • Develop manufacturing plans, assembly procedures, and equipment specifications


Continuous Improvement



  • Support Lean, Six Sigma, and waste-reduction initiatives
  • Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions
  • Establish SOPs and performance metrics to track operational success


Manufacturing Systems & Equipment



  • Develop and maintain production layouts, workstations, and manufacturing systems
  • Optimize equipment utilization and support capital investment planning
  • Coordinate equipment maintenance to ensure operational reliability


Training & Collaboration



  • Create and maintain work instructions and process documentation
  • Train production personnel to ensure consistent execution
  • Collaborate with VDC, Safety, Assets, and Supply Chain teams to improve overall performance


Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Industrial, Mechanical Engineering, or related field
  • 3+ years of manufacturing engineering experience (Engineer-to-Order experience preferred)
  • Experience with PPAP, prototyping, and quality processes preferred
  • Proficiency in PTC Creo, AutoCAD, and SolidWorks
  • Knowledge of electrical components, terminology, and NEC preferred
  • Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills


Work Environment:

This role is primarily performed in an office environment with regular interaction on the manufacturing floor. Exposure to moderate noise levels may occur. Occasional lifting up to 50 pounds may be required. Travel to manufacturing production shops may be required (up to 25%).
