As a Maintenance Technician you will:

You will complete Documentation of project work which will include creation of part drawings using Solid Edge, identifying and setting up spare parts, and creating operator manuals when none exist. Fabrication work includes wiring control cabinets and PLCs, machining new parts, assembling new machinery, and coordinating with outside vendors on installations.

The Research Engineering Technician will also provide troubleshooting support for plant machinery. This role works independently and in partnership with maintenance and must effectively communicate with operators, engineers, and maintenance technicians regarding project work.

The ideal candidate is:



  • Specialized or vocational coursework
  • 2-year college certificate in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or Electrical/Electronic Engineering
  • Completion of a certified technical program and four years' experience as a technician OR eight years of technician experience or equivalent
  • Demonstrated skill interpreting machine, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic drawings
  • Demonstrated skill selecting and assembling electrical, pneumatic, and electronic components


  • Demonstrated experience with motor controls and PLCs
  • Demonstrated skill operating mills, lathes, saws, drills, grinders, welders, brakes, punches, shears, heat treating equipment, paint sprayers, jigs, and fixtures
  • Technical training in electrical design, electrical circuits, motor controls, and programming of AllenBradley and Siemens PLCs
  • Demonstrated experience with CAD software such as AutoCAD, MP2, or Solid Edge
  • Demonstrated skill in preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and equipment repair
  • Ability to use schematics, blueprints, and machine drawings to diagnose and repair electrical problems
  • Ability to program using ladder logic and/or work with other programmers to achieve proper system control and output
  • Ability to work with suppliers to costeffectively troubleshoot problems and purchase required parts


BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:




  • High school diploma or GED


  • 3+ years of technician experience



This position is located in Lawrence, Kansas. Relocation is not provided.

  • Must have been in current job for at least 6 or 12 months, depending on current grade.

    • 6 months - GA 37 and below, Merit 14 and below
    • 12 months - GA 38 and above, Merit 15 and above
