The Position Job TitleInside Mortgage Loan Consultant - Consumer Direct Job Description

SUMMARY

The primary role of an Inside Mortgage Loan Consultant (IMLC) is to originate and close mortgage loans referred via existing mortgage or banking customers not represented by an MLC. The IMLC position is an inside sales position responsible for originating retail mortgage loans through internal referrals and company-generated leads that works in a fast-paced, goal-oriented environment. This position is directly responsible for origination objectives and supporting employees and existing customers with the highest level of customer service.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS)

  • Uses interpersonal and communication skills to support facilitation of mortgage loans referred via existing mortgage or banking customers.
  • Cross sells First United Bank products and services.
  • Works with bank personnel to promote First United in assigned markets.
  • Conducts outbound and inbound mortgage sales calls to educate and engage refinance candidates.
  • Maintains accurate and detailed records in CRM and loan origination systems.
  • Takes thorough and complete loan applications; analyzes and pre-qualifies applicant information to determine viability of the client's desired loan program.
  • Pulls credit, analyzes credit, and compares for accuracy with the mortgage borrower's statements and loan application.
  • Understands and clearly explains correct loan options for the borrower based upon the applicant's present situation, future plans, and preferred loan product.
  • Submits the loan application, preliminary income verification documents, preliminary asset verification documents, loan disclosures, any required credit explanation letters and executed application forms to process.
  • Counsels the borrower through the application, approval and closing process - including review of the HUD settlement statement with the borrower prior to closing.
  • Demonstrates excellent follow-up techniques to ensure strong application-to-close conversion rates.
  • Partners with processing and underwriting teams to ensure seamless and efficient loan experience.
  • Ensures great customer service throughout the process.
  • Meets minimum expectations for First United best practices and production standards.
  • Attends assigned production meetings.
  • Provides exceptional customer service, maintains high ethical standards, and ensures compliance with every borrower.

Additional Duties and Responsibilities

  • Adherence to all First United Policies and Procedures
  • Complete all required compliance exams on an annual basis
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Dresses professionally.

EMPLOYEE SPECIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Required Education and Work Experience

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Active NMLS or Federally Registered NMLS license.
  • Prefer two (2) years' experience in mortgage sales within a Consumer Direct or refinance environment.
  • Proven record of success for closing and supporting mortgage customers.

Knowledge and Skills Requirements

  • Possession of strong organizational skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Exceptional interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently on assigned tasks as well as to accept directions on given assignments.
  • Demonstrated technical knowledge of Bank, Mortgage, Federal and State lending and compliance/regulatory matters.
  • Proficient in Loan Origination systems (e.g., Encompass).
  • Familiarity with pricing engines and lead management systems.
  • Solid understanding of residential mortgage products including conventional, FHA and VA loan programs.
  • Self-motivated, energetic, and results-oriented with high attention to detail.

Physical Demand

Sedentary work that primarily involves sitting/standing.
