Overview
We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Asphalt Operations Manager to lead and oversee the full lifecycle of asphalt operations-from production and logistics to field execution and crew management. This leadership role is accountable for operational efficiency, safety, quality, scheduling, and profitability across all asphalt-related projects and resources, including paving crews, milling operations, and plant coordination.
Responsibilities
Oversee day-to-day operations for asphalt paving, milling, and/or plant production across multiple job sites.
- Develop and implement project schedules, resource plans, and production targets to meet business goals.
- Supervise and support field superintendents, foremen, and crew leads to ensure consistent, high-quality work.
- Coordinate material delivery, trucking logistics, and plant output to align with field demands.
- Drive operational excellence through standardization of best practices, job cost controls, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ensure full compliance with DOT specifications, safety regulations, environmental guidelines, and company policies.
- Lead and model a safety-first culture; conduct regular audits and implement corrective actions when needed.
- Collaborate with estimating, project management, and executive leadership to align field performance with business objectives.
- Analyze job performance, productivity, and profit margins; proactively address underperformance or project risks.
- Maintain relationships with clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and regulatory agencies.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications

- 7+ years of progressive experience in asphalt construction or heavy civil operations, with at least 3 years in a senior supervisory or operations leadership role.
- Strong knowledge of asphalt paving techniques, milling processes, equipment, and mix designs.
- Experience managing multiple crews and large-scale projects simultaneously.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and decision-making skills.
- Proven ability to manage budgets, schedules, and personnel effectively.
- Familiarity with job costing systems, field reporting tools, and productivity software.
- Valid driver's license required; CDL preferred.
- Able to work long hours, including nights and weekends as required by the project.
- Must be willing to travel overnight when projects are outside the local area.
