Summary: The Dietician utilizes advanced knowledge and skills to provide individualized Medical Nutrition Therapy for an assigned patient population. This role serves as a departmental leader by researching, developing, and implementing evidencebased practices. The clinician actively participates in compliance initiatives and quality improvement efforts to ensure safe, effective, and highquality patient care. Responsibilities also include contributing to the development, review, and revision of hospital policies.
Patient populations served may include neonates, pediatrics, adults, and geriatrics. This position exercises prescriptive authority as granted by the medical staff.

Responsibilities:
Serves as a clinical expert in Medical Nutrition Therapy and the Nutrition Care Process-including assessment, diagnosis, intervention, and monitoring/evaluation. Develops and delivers educational programs for patients, physicians, nurses, allied health professionals, students, peers, and community audiences as needed. Participates in onboarding and provides preceptorship and training for dietetic students and newly hired dietitians. Leads, designs, and evaluates departmental quality improvement and/or patient safety initiatives related to nutrition care. Communicates effectively with the interdisciplinary team and influences treatment plans using evidencebased, researchsupported, and costeffective nutrition interventions. With demonstrated competency, may independently manage parenteral nutrition orders under approved prescriptive authority. Performs additional duties as assigned to support patient care and departmental operations.

Licensed Dietitian, State of New Mexico (LD - NM). Registered Dietitian (RD) credential. Specialty Certification (must hold at least one): CDE - Certified Diabetes Educator CNSC - Certified Nutrition Support Clinician CSP - Certified Specialist in Pediatrics Successful completion of PHS Nutrition Informatics Competency
