Position Summary

This key role helps shape and steward Project HOPE's brand voice across all external communications. We're seeking a compassionate and skilled marketing writer who can define, refine, and consistently express that voice by crafting content that shares the stories of our global impact and inspires supporters to take action. From donor communications and fundraising appeals that mobilize emergency responses to digital campaigns that educate audiences about our programs, you'll communicate the critical importance of Project HOPE's work across every channel.



This position combines purpose-driven storytelling with strategic marketing communications, requiring someone who can translate complex health issues into engaging content, persuasive fundraising copy, and compelling narratives that move hearts, minds, and resources toward our mission. The ideal candidate understands how to build and maintain a distinctive, authentic brand voice for a global organization.



The Marketing Copywriter will work closely with our Communications, Development, and Program teams to craft emotionally resonant content, from donor appeal letters to full campaigns, that authentically represents Project HOPE's global health work and inspires meaningful action in support of our fundraising, awareness, and engagement goals.



Principal Responsibilities

Content Creation



  • Own and evolve Project HOPE's brand voice, ensuring consistency, authenticity, and emotional resonance across channels.


  • Develop and maintain brand voice guidelines, tone frameworks, and messaging hierarchies that reflect Project HOPE's values and mission.


  • Write compelling copy for external marketing materials, including landing pages, website content, campaign collateral, and marketing assets.


  • Develop messaging for fundraising appeals, donor communications, and organizational campaigns.


  • Translate complex program information into clear, accessible, and persuasive copy.


  • Create content that drives engagement and action across digital channels.



Storytelling & Impact Communication



  • Transform complex program data and field reports into accessible, human-centered narratives.


  • Adapt messaging for diverse audiences, from major donors to grassroots supporters.



Collaboration & Management



  • Partner with creative, social media, fundraising, and program team members to ensure cohesive campaigns that reflect organizational priorities and accurately represent our work and communities served.


  • Review and edit materials for clarity, cultural appropriateness, and brand consistency.


  • Support team members in applying brand voice standards across channels.



Minimum Qualifications



  • Bachelor's degree in communications, Journalism, English, International Relations, or related field


  • 3-5 years of professional writing experience


  • Proven track record of creating content that drives measurable engagement or donations


  • Experience writing for diverse audiences and cultural contexts


  • Strong understanding of ethical storytelling practices, particularly regarding vulnerable populations


  • Demonstrated ability to write compelling copy with proven results


  • Basic understanding of SEO and GEO principles for web content


  • Growth mindset a must. Experience with setting KPIs and leveraging analytics to track toward goals.


  • A fine eye for editing, grammar, punctuation; a close ear for appropriate tone across moments and messaging


  • An eye and voice for great storytelling with utmost respect and sensitivity toward people of all cultures


  • Must be available when needed on nights and weekends, especially during crisis communications and emergencies.

  • Prior agency or in-house role


  • Multilingual, e.g. Spanish, other

  • Emergency deployments may be in resource-deprived environments with austere living conditions.


  • Travel for extended periods may be by air and/or other modes of transportation.


  • While international travel is not a regular part of every job, programmatic needs may require it intermittently.


  • Project HOPE employees may be required to travel or work in countries where working conditions are classified as "hardship."



Compensation for the role is dependent on several factors including a candidate's qualifications, skills, and experience.
