The Assistant Plant Manager guides and supports the day-to-day activities for multiple segments of the industrial, specialty and medical distribution and gas filling operations for a plant. This position assists with coordinating all gas cylinder processing, ultrasonic testing, and alignment with all Food & Drug Administration (FDA), Department of Transportation (DOT), Occupational Health & Safety Administration (OSHA), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), SAFECORE, and other business-related safety and quality standards.

  • Supports and mentors a team of two or more associates involved in activities related to the plant, quality assurance lab, and/or drivers.

  • Coordinates and partners with other Plant Supervisors to ensure smooth, collaborative day-to-day operations.

  • Fosters a strong safety and compliance culture, proactively addressing unsafe conditions to ensure a secure environment for all.

  • Connects tasks to team members according to customers' needs, current stock levels, and the individual's growing expertise.

  • Reviews production schedules and estimates team capacity and resources for the successful completion of assignments. Maintains thoughtful time and production records.

  • Communicates company policies clearly and upholds safety standards to ensure the well-being of the team.

  • Implements measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product; pioneers changes in working conditions to increase the overall effectiveness of the team.

  • Initiates and suggests plans to inspire and motivate team members to reach shared objectives.

  • Nurtures professional relationships to resolve work challenges or assists team members in collaborative problem-solving.

  • Recommends or initiates talent-focused actions, such as new hires, promotions, transfers, and performance alignment strategies.

  • Provides dedicated training for new team members and encourages cross-training to ensure continuity and professional growth for all employees.

  • Provides assistance to the Plant Manager with regard to planning and managing capital investments to advance the facility's capabilities.

  • Coordinates the proper inventory levels of supplies and equipment to ensure the team has the tools they need.

  • Additional duties and projects as may be assigned to support the plant's success.

________________________ Are you a MATCH? Required Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED.

  • 2 or more years in a leadership or coordinative role within a manufacturing or distribution environment.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • We are looking for prior technical experience with compressed gases, gas analysis, and gas lab equipment.

  • Familiarity with utilizing SAP is a plus.

  • Proficiency in Google Suite applications and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel).

  • Strong analytical skills and a thorough understanding of how to utilize insights and related tools to improve team flow and effectiveness.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills. We value communication that ensures a smooth flow of information through clear speaking and writing, the encouragement of open expression of ideas, and active, empathetic listening.

  • A foundational comfort with addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division in all units of measure using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals. The ability to compute rates, ratios, and percentages to support plant accuracy.

  • Proactive and well-organized, with the ability to manage priorities and contribute effectively as part of a supportive team.

  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to completing compliance documentation neatly and accurately.

  • A sincere dedication to product quality and fostering customer satisfaction.

Physical & Environmental Requirements:
  • The role may involve remaining stationary for extended periods of time to focus on administrative tasks.

  • There will be opportunities to traverse through office and manufacturing locations to engage with the team.

  • You will frequently be asked to actively listen and exchange information with colleagues and partners.

  • The role requires the ability to observe and assess information received via computer.

  • Regular use of a computer and telephone is essential for staying connected.

  • Occasionally, you may be asked to move up to 60 pounds or move more than 125 pounds with the assistance of material handling equipment.
