What to Expect
The successful Equipment Engineer candidate will have broad-based industrial maintenance experience, encompassing Electrical/PLC, Robotics, Mechanical, Stamping, Machining, Hydraulics/Pneumatics, Conveyor systems, etc. Must be willing to tackle whatever technical challenge presents itself and be willing to assist and learn from others in their areas of expertise. Displays extensive theoretical and hands-on experience in all facets of a press shop. Experience managing a group working on process optimization, Safety validations and improvements, upgrades and new installation of equipment. Detail oriented to provide necessary documented processes to allow for on the job training and continuous process improvements.
What You'll Do
- Responsible for all equipment, incl. robotics & controls related activities in the shop
- Work collaboratively with design, product excellence, production operations, Manufacturing Engineering, Process Engineering, Maintenance, and other cross functional teams as the expert to ensure production lines run in a safe, efficient manner producing high quality parts
- Lead equipment upgrades with a focus on serviceability, reliability, and process capability
- Responsible for continuous process optimization of automated lines as well as Providing Hands-on support to maintenance in troubleshooting extended downtime and chronical issues
- Become owner / subject matter expert to drive equipment-related process improvement including detailed troubleshooting and root cause analysis
- Build training material, maintenance routines, service bulletins, and related documentation related to cradle to grave equipment life cycle management, Identify and procure critical service parts as needed
What You'll Bring
- 5+ years of Professional Controls Engineering experience in an Automotive Manufacturing Environment
- ACAD experience in developing electrical schematics
- Experience with PLC programming (Siemens S7), troubleshooting, configuration and commissioning
- Experience with robot programming (Kuka), backup, and restoration for Schuler presses
- Flexibility in working weekends and night shift as required
- Strong understanding of Mechatronics in how the controls system integrates with mechanical movement and functions of the press and its process
