What you'll be doing...

Verizon is looking for an attorney with initiative and drive to join the Antitrust Practice Group. The Counsel will provide legal support on antitrust issues, assist Verizon in navigating complex strategic transactions, and help respond to antitrust agencies' requests. You will be a key contributor to antitrust lawsuits, manage day-to-day discovery processes, and coordinate with other Legal Department and business groups to move transactions through the antitrust-approval process.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting senior legal leadership in advising business units on antitrust issues and joint venture participation.

  • Assisting in conducting antitrust analyses of potential transactions and supporting the advocacy strategy to secure approvals from competition authorities.

  • Managing the day-to-day work required to comply with DOJ, FTC, and international agency requests (e.g., CIDs and Second Requests).

  • Leading the document review and production process, including managing vendors and internal data collection.

  • Assisting with drafting briefs, memoranda, and court filings; help prepare materials for depositions and witness preparation.

  • Supporting the development and evolution of Verizon's antitrust compliance program and researching various antitrust policy initiatives.

  • Coordinating with Federal and State Regulatory groups on FCC and state-level approval processes.

  • Managing outside counsel, economists, and consultants within budget.

What we're looking for...

You'll need to have:

  • J.D. or LLM degree and six or more years of experience.

  • Antitrust experience in a law firm, government agency, or corporate legal department.

  • Bar membership in good standing in at least one state.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

  • Experience assisting with antitrust counseling on business transactions and responding to requests from antitrust agencies (DOJ/FTC).

  • Demonstrated proficiency with e-discovery tools and managing large-scale document productions.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to summarize complex legal concepts for senior attorneys.

  • Strong ability to analyze complex legal questions from multiple perspectives, prioritize high work volumes, and manage extremely sensitive information with total confidentiality.

  • Familiarity with the telecommunications or technology industries and an interest in how antitrust law intersects with emerging technologies.

  • A self-starter and team player with a positive attitude, capable of working across multi-disciplinary groups and knowing when to escalate high-stakes issues.

Where you'll be workingIn this hybrid role, you'll have a defined work location that includes working from home and a minimum of three days per week in the office, which will be set by your manager. The salary will vary depending on your location and confirmed job-related skills and experience. This is an incentive based position with the potential to earn more. For part-time roles, your compensation will be adjusted to reflect your hours. The annual salary range for the location(s) listed on this job requisition based on a full-time schedule is: $161,000.00 - $280,000.00.
