Description
Acara Solutions is seeking a Senior Coastal Engineer to support a leading environmental consulting and engineering organization. This role will support coastal resiliency and restoration projects including beach nourishment, shoreline protection, coastal structures, and living shoreline solutions. The position may be based in Boca Raton, FL; Tampa, FL; Jacksonville, FL; Baton Rouge, LA; or Dallas, TX.
Salary: $200K - $230K
The Senior Coastal Engineer will lead technical design, project execution, and client coordination for coastal and waterfront projects along the U.S. Gulf and East Coast. This position works with multidisciplinary teams including engineers, environmental scientists, surveyors, and GIS/CAD specialists.
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead engineering design for coastal and waterfront projects from feasibility through final design
  • Perform coastal engineering analysis and apply modeling tools for shoreline protection and resiliency projects
  • Manage project scope, schedule, and budget while coordinating with clients, consultants, and internal teams
  • Prepare engineering reports, technical specifications, regulatory applications, and contract documents
  • Support business development, proposal preparation, and client relationship development
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to technical leadership within project teams
  • Conduct field work including site inspections, surveys, and construction observation
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver complex coastal engineering solutions
Representative Project Experience
  • Beach renourishment projects (dredge and truck haul methods)
  • Coastal and marine structures including jetties, groins, seawalls, revetments, docks, and breakwaters
  • Living shoreline design and ecosystem restoration
  • Coastal resiliency planning, vulnerability assessments, and adaptation strategies
Job Requirements
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Coastal Engineering
  • Minimum 7 years of coastal engineering experience
Preferred Qualifications
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain within 6 months
