Day & Zimmermann is seeking a VP, Project Controls for Day & Zimmermann Maintenance and Construction (DZMC).

As a VP, Project Controls here is the work you will do:


  • Define and align the strategic vision and framework of estimating, scheduling, cost management for both maintenance and modification and project delivery models, including proposals. Establish governance that ensures accuracy, transparency, accountability, and consistent performance from bid development through project closeout.
  • Drive procedural governance framework for Project Controls, setting policies, performance standards, and internal controls that drive standardization and accountability. Ensure alignment across markets to enhance scalability and operational efficiency.
  • Establish and govern the integration of project controls systems, tools, and data platforms. Establish a forward-looking technology roadmap that enhances automation, data integrity, analytics, and reporting capabilities to enable predictive performance management and consistent execution practices.
  • Establish and lead the estimating strategy to support competitive, risk-balanced proposals. Strengthening unit rate databases, productivity benchmarks, and cost models to enhance accuracy and margin protection. Partner with Project Operations and Proposal Management to align proposal strategies with execution capabilities
  • Build and lead a high-performing, matrixed Project Controls organization. Define competency standards, drive workforce planning, implement leadership development initiatives, and ensure the organization develops the skills required to meet future demands across all markets
  • Champion a culture of accountability and continuous improvement across both maintenance and modification and project delivery execution



This role is for you if you have these skills/ qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Project Management, Business Administration, Finance or a related discipline preferred
  • 15+ years Demonstrated experience in project controls within the EPC environment
  • Proven ability to lead and motivate teams in analyzing complex project challenges, developing and implementing solutions that align project controls strategy with business objectives to drive profitability, risk mitigation, and long-term growth
  • Deep knowledge of estimating, cost management, scheduling, forecasting, earned value management, and performance analytics across maintenance & modification and EPC projects.
  • Demonstrated understanding of change management and risk allocation across contract pricing structures
  • Proven experience building and leading matrixed teams, developing talent, and creating scalable organizational structures
  • Strong understanding of project controls technologies, ERP systems, scheduling tools, and data analytics platforms, with experience driving digital transformation and system integration initiatives.
  • Ability to communicate and present complex ideas to leadership, influence cross-functional stakeholders, and lead change across diverse markets



In compliance with this state's pay transparency laws, the salary range for this role is $219,433 - $ 329,150. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location. (The specific programs and options available to an employee may vary depending on date of hire, schedule type, and the applicability of union fringes).
