JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Office of Physical Plant is currently hiring water reclamation workers for summer employment beginning May 11, 2026, through August 14, 2026. This position requires 40 hours of work per week.

Job Duties

Performs minor and routine maintenance as well as cleaning duties related to the water reclamation plant and spray fields.

  • Perform cleaning duties throughout the plant, such as hosing down tanks, walkways, etc.
  • Check effluent pump operation * Perform maintenance and repairs as directed to include lubrication, repacking valves, exercising valves, and repairing minor piping leaks
  • Collect water samples from test areas and wells following prescribed procedures
  • Open and close valves, drains, and vents on the spray effluent distribution piping as directed and/or following a prescribed schedule
  • Check effluent piping and spray system regularly; clean and/or replace spray heads, straighten bent laterals, and perform minor repairs as directed. Report malfunctions as they are observed.
  • Mow, cut, trim, and spray vegetation; cut and dispose of fallen trees and limbs
  • Safeguard plant equipment; initiate emergency repairs, as needed; monitor security cameras
  • Operate various types of machinery and equipment including skid steer loaders, mowers, chainsaws, stump grinders, etc. to clear brush, maintain grounds and roadways, and remove snow
  • Perform minor repairs on grounds equipment; convert equipment for seasonal use and various functions; remove and sharpen blades such as those on mowers, stump grinders, chainsaws, etc.; change oil, lubricants and hydraulic fluid; change tires, belts, wiper blades, and spark plugs; change or replace batteries.
  • Assist Water Reclamation Plant employees, as needed
