Job Title: Medicaid Specialist//Eligibility Specialist

Location: Glen Allen, VA 23060

Pay Rate: $20.00/hr. on W2 without benefits

Duration: 6+ months

Work Hours: Shift Hours: Standard Shift

Role & Responsibilities:

  • The purpose of this position is to provide administrative, operational and analytical support to the Division of Benefit Programs Director and Division Management Team in conducting the business of the division.
  • Activities include but are not limited to planning; organizing and filing; collecting and analyzing information and data; entering data; and preparing reports and presentations.
  • Handling high call volumes.
  • Any other duties as required by the manager/supervisor


Knowledge, skills, education, and/or experience:

  • Considerable knowledge of public assistance programs (PEBT, SNAP, TANF, Medicaid, VIEW, or Energy Assistance) operations and policies, and associated automated systems.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills needed to handle questions and provide solutions to customer questions and problems.
  • Strong administrative support, analysis, and project management experience required with moderate knowledge of business/accounting practices,

    preferred. Experience in general, public, or business administration environments.
  • Knowledge of ordering supplies and handling mail. Knowledge of handling high call volumes and de-escalating irate calls.


Mandatory skills/certification(s) Requirement:

  • Skill in organizing and planning, tracking projects, and maintaining schedules.
  • Ability to research/collect data and create spreadsheets.
  • Skill in the use of WORD, OUTLOOK, EXCEL, and POWERPOINT.
  • Knowledge of executive administrative/office policies and procedures.
  • Moderate knowledge of accounting and human services programs.
  • Ability to recognize and resolve problems. Skill in responding to internal and external customers.
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive issues/documents.
  • Ability to collaborate with staff and managers within the division and in other divisions.
  • Ability to direct others.
  • Knowledge of ordering supplies and handling mail.
  • Skill in communicating effectively, orally and in writing, with all levels of employees and customers.


Desired skills / Preferred Qualifications:

  • Minimum of three years of customer service experience in the Call center setting and/or human services field preferred.
  • Computer skills in MS Office, including Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • Demonstrated effective verbal, written communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to embrace change in a fast-paced environment and multi-task across a variety of projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize, to work under pressure with established deadlines, and work independently

  • Skill in the use of WORD, OUTLOOK, EXCEL, POWERPOIN
  • Laptop, cell phone, monitors
