Description
Creativity. Innovation. A desire to effect positive change. That's what it takes to work at Fuss & O'Neill - because that's what we do for the communities in which we work: we create, innovate, and design long-lasting improvements that improve quality of life. Quality of life is also important on the job, so we've prioritized work-life balance by offering flexible/remote work opportunities, part-time benefits, and generous PTO. We believe that each day is an opportunity to support one another, to support our clients, and to support our communities. If you feel the same, then you've found your future.

We are seeking a highly entrepreneurial Environmental Compliance Practice Leader to drive the expansion and long-term growth of our environmental compliance services across industrial, commercial, and municipal markets throughout Massachusetts. This is a senior, visible leadership role for a proven seller-doer who thrives on building business, expanding market presence, and scaling high-performing teams.
In this role, you will capitalize on existing Fuss & O'Neill client relationships-while actively leveraging your own professional network-to introduce new service offerings, deepen key accounts, and position the firm as a leading environmental compliance partner in the region. You will have a direct hand in shaping strategy, growing revenue, and building a sustainable compliance practice with long-term career upside.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the growth and expansion of the environmental compliance practice in Massachusetts, with accountability for market penetration, revenue generation, and client development
  • Serve as the technical authority and trusted advisor for complex environmental compliance programs, including:

    • Hazardous Waste Management
    • Stormwater Compliance
    • Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasure (SPCC)
    • Wastewater Permitting
    • EPCRA-related compliance activities, including TRI, TURA, and Tier II reporting

  • Identify, pursue, and convert new business opportunities, expanding services within existing accounts and opening doors with new clients
  • Provide strategic regulatory guidance to clients navigating evolving Massachusetts environmental requirements
  • Oversee QA/QC of compliance deliverables, ensuring technical excellence and consistent quality as the practice scales
  • Build, mentor, and lead a growing compliance team, fostering technical excellence, accountability, and professional growth
  • Partner with firm leadership on hiring strategy, succession planning, and long-term practice development

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

  • 10+ years of environmental compliance consulting experience with extensive knowledge of Massachusetts environmental regulations.
  • Proven seller-doer track record, including measurable success in business development and practice growth.
  • Strong, established Massachusetts-based client and industry network.
  • Demonstrated ability to build teams, grow revenue, and lead market expansion efforts.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and relationship-building skills.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to operate independently while contributing to a collaborative firm culture.
  • Massachusetts Professional Engineer (PE) license required.

This is a hybrid role, offering the best of both worlds-collaborate in-office with a high-performing team and enjoy the flexibility of working remotely part of the week. We're committed to supporting work-life balance while maintaining strong team connection and project delivery.
