We are seeking a forward-thinking and creative IT Order to Cash Process Architect (Specialist) to focus on maximizing the value derived from our IT investments and innovations. As an IT Specialist focused on driving business value, you will act as a scout to identify emerging technology trends, a facilitator of creative ideation, and a champion for experimental projects that have the potential to deliver significant competitive advantages.

The ideal candidate is a curious and dynamic individual who excels at the intersection of business analysis, creative problem-solving, and strategic foresight. You will also evaluate technical solutions, define the appropriate business processes and create project specifications for our PMO and delivery partners to execute. This role is pivotal in ensuring our technology decisions directly contribute to our overall business success across Avient's global business units.

Essential Functions

  • Transforming technology into value across objectives in Avient IT's four strategic areas:

    o Drive Business Efficiency and Growth
    o Build Global Governance
  • Develop a deep understanding of the company's strategic goals, business processes, and key performance indicators (KPIs) to identify opportunities for IT to drive business value in the Order to Cash space ( i.e. SAP SD, SAP LE/TM, and SAP WM/EWM).
  • Provide functional leadership to stakeholders in Sales, Customer Service, Logistics, and Warehousing to translate abstract ideas into tangible concepts, defining the problem, outlining the proposed technical solution, and articulating the potential value proposition.
  • Proactively scan the external environment for emerging technologies (e.g., AI, machine learning, blockchain), disruptive business models, and innovative practices that could be applied to internal business processes.
  • Participate in the evaluation of proposed IT Order to Cash projects and investments, conducting cost-benefit analyses, ROI calculations, and other financial assessments to justify technology expenditures based on potential business value.
  • Define and track key metrics to measure the actual business value delivered by implemented IT solutions. Develop reports and dashboards to communicate these results to stakeholders.
  • Embrace a "fail fast, learn faster" mindset, iterating on concepts based on pilot results and stakeholder feedback.
  • Identify and assess potential risks associated with IT projects and investments, quantifying their potential impact on business value and recommending mitigation strategies.
  • Own SAP Order to Cash process design and architecture, which covers order management, pricing, billing, output determination, shipping, warehouse management, and intercompany processes. Serve as an applications liaison between the business and the appropriate IT groups - Applications Architecture, Data & Analytics, AI, Infrastructure, and Security.
  • Design and develop prototypes for digital innovation initiatives, leveraging modern architectures, frameworks, and tools.
  • Evaluate feasibility, scalability, and security of proposed solutions to ensure alignment with enterprise standards.
  • Provide design oversight during projects such as SAP implementations, rollouts, and S/4HANA initiatives, including post go-live stabilization and continuous improvement.
  • Act as key resource for unique regional and regulatory processes.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities



  • Acts as the resource for resolution of unique or complex business or systems problems. Undertakes the most complex projects involving multiple disciplines and impacting multiple business units.
  • Owns and drives application design and implementation.
  • Drives the technical validation of business process designs.
  • Implements solutions to support processes including; Sales, Customer Service, Warehouse Management, Transportation, Production Planning, Human Resources, Business Reporting and Pricing.
  • Identifies, researches and recommends new applications as needed.
  • Delivers an integrated, quality technology platform.
  • Documents the configuration, design and implementation elements allowing easy support and knowledge transfer.
  • Leads projects and/or project sub-teams by working with key business people to define objectives, develop and execute project plans, manage issue resolution, coordinate work across project members and teams.
  • Delivers results on time and on budget.
  • Supports business processes by solving problems including transactions that are not flowing correctly and resolving system coding or configuration bugs.
  • Drives activities within assigned project tasks to meet project timelines, budget and quality.
  • Special projects as assigned.


Scope

Travel may be required up to 10%. This position is global in scope.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelors of Science degree in Computer Science, Business, Information Systems or related business field, or equivalent experience required.
  • 8+ years of experience in SAP SD functional analyst roles and responsibilities.
  • Preferred experience in SAP Logistics and Warehouse Management.
  • A proven record of accomplishment of working both independently and as a member of a team.
  • Communicates effectively with both technical IT audiences, and non-technical business audiences.
  • Strong ability to analyze both qualitative and quantitative data to support ideas and measure the impact of experiments
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills and creativity applied to IT systems and business processes.
  • A keen interest in and understanding of emerging technologies and their potential business applications.
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously.
