Director of Residential Psychiatric Services, Assisted Living & Supported Housing (Full Time) Position Summary The Director of Residential Psychiatric Services, Assisted Living, and Supported Housing provides executive leadership, strategic direction, and operational oversight for behavioral health programs serving individuals with severe and persistent mental illness within Community Care Alliance. This role ensures the delivery of high-quality, person-centered, recovery-oriented care across psychiatric residential programs, assisted living settings, and supportive housing initiatives. The Director will lead multidisciplinary teams, manage compliance and licensing standards, strengthen program performance, and advance innovative models that promote stability, independence, and wellness for vulnerable populations. Required Qualifications
- Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling, or related field Human Service or registered nurse.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in mental health, long term care, housing or supportive services
- Minimum of 3 years of supervisory and program management experience
- Experience with regulatory compliance BHDDH, EOHHS, RIDOH, HUD-funded or Medicaid-funded supported housing programs
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel to sites as needed
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of mental health systems, recovery principles, and social determinants of health
- Strong understanding of supported housing models (e.g., Housing First, Permanent Supportive Housing)
- Ability to navigate complex systems including benefits, subsidies, housing regulations, and certified behavioral health clinics
- Ability to build effective partnerships with clinical teams, landlords, and community agencies
- Commitment to equity, inclusion, and culturally responsive service delivery
- Consistently complete work in a competent, accurate and thorough manner.
- Ability to be a self-starter, attends to multiple tasks simultaneously, work with minimal supervision, and continually seeks new/better methods to organize and complete work.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide overall leadership and management (both clinical and administrative) of residential psychiatric services, assisted living, and supported housing including scatteredsite and/or congregate housing models
- Promote person centered care and recovery practices throughout program
- Collaborate closely with clinical teams to integrate housing stability with mental health and substance use treatment goals
- Ensure compliance with state and federal licensing regulations, accreditation standards and payer requirements.
- Ensure housing services align with recoveryoriented, traumainformed, and harmreduction principles
- Implement risk management activities as assigned by the program Sr. VP
- Respond to housingrelated crises and coordinate interventions that support tenant safety and housing retention
- Ensure programs meet the complex needs of individuals with serious mental illness, co-occurring disorders, cognitive impairments, and medical conditions.
- Promote integrated care by collaborating with behavioral health teams, primary care, and crisis services.
- Support individualized treatment planning emphasizing recovery, skill development, community integration, and long-term stability.
- Develop, manage, and monitor program budgets; ensure financial sustainability and efficient resource use.
- Collect and analyze data related to outcomes, utilization, and quality improvement
- Directly supervise program managers and clinical leads; provide guidance, coaching, and performance management.
- Foster a culture of teamwork, accountability, professional growth, and staff well-being.
- Oversee recruitment, retention, and workforce development for multidisciplinary teams.
- Represent Community Care Alliance in external committees, task forces, and collaborative initiatives.
- Advocate for clients' needs and influence policy discussions related to residential behavioral health and supported housing.
Work Environment and Expectations
- Mix of officebased and regular on-site work at multiple field locations/residential sites is expected
- Oncall availability for emergencies and site coverage required
- Regular collaboration with interdisciplinary clinical teams, property managers and state agencies.
