Vertex is seeking a strategic and analytical leader to serve as Director, Market Access Analytics & Forecasting. This role will lead a high-performing team to deliver actionable insights from U.S. market access data, including formulary/coverage data (e.g., MMIT), claims/utilization data (e.g., IQVIA LAAD), gross-to-net (GTN) forecasting inputs, and trade/channel analytics. These insights will drive market access strategy, contracting decisions, and performance management.

As a trusted advisor to cross-functional stakeholders, this leader will translate complex access and channel dynamics into clear, data-driven recommendations for senior leadership and field execution. The role will also focus on building durable analytic capabilities, ensuring data quality, and driving actionable insights.

Key Responsibilities: This role reports to the Senior Director, U.S. Market Access Analytics & Forecasting and includes the following responsibilities:

1. Payer & Access Analytics

  • Lead analytics on payer coverage, formulary positioning, prior authorization (PA), step edits, and access barriers using data sources like MMIT.
  • Enhance claims analytics to identify patient journey friction points, abandonment drivers, time-to-therapy, and payer-driven channel shifts.
  • Develop executive-ready KPI reporting (e.g., payer wins/losses, restriction shifts, geographic variations) and provide actionable insights for Market Access Strategy (MAS), contracting, and field teams.
  • Serve as the primary analytic contact for access-related business questions, ensuring consistent interpretation and reporting.

2. GTN Forecasting & Assumptions Management

  • Own access-related inputs for GTN forecasting, including rebates, discounts, utilization impacts, and contract performance.
  • Partner with Finance to support forecasting cycles (Plan/LBE/LRP), analyze GTN variances, and provide scenario analyses.
  • Build forecasting tools (e.g., assumption libraries, scenario toolkits) to enhance efficiency, transparency, and confidence in projections.

3. Trade & Channel Analytics

  • Oversee analytics for trade/channel strategy, including payer-channel mix, distribution patterns, specialty pharmacy dynamics, and contracting economics.
  • Support trade/customer strategies and evaluate contract options, financial trade-offs, and post-contract performance in collaboration with Contracting Analytics.

4. Leadership & Team Development

  • Lead and develop a team of Senior Managers/Associate Directors across Payer/Access Analytics, GTN Forecasting, and Trade/Channel Analytics.
  • Set clear goals, ensure high-quality deliverables, and foster a culture of rigor, accountability, and business partnership.
  • Recruit, onboard, and mentor talent, aligning team capabilities with evolving business needs.

5. Stakeholder Partnership & Influence

  • Act as a strategic advisor to key stakeholders, including the Head of Business Unit, Finance, Commercial Analytics, Market Access Strategy, and Payer Field teams.
  • Lead cross-functional business reviews and executive updates, delivering clear, data-driven recommendations.
  • Translate insights into actionable strategies, tools, and narratives for field execution.
  • Align priorities across analytics, finance, MAS, and contracting to meet business objectives.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree (MBA/MPH/MS/PhD) preferred.
  • 8+ years of experience in pharma/biotech, consulting, or analytics, with a focus on U.S. Market Access.
  • Proven leadership experience managing high-performing analytic teams.
  • Strong understanding of U.S. payer and channel dynamics, including GTN and contracting economics.
  • Exceptional ability to communicate complex insights to senior leaders in a clear, concise manner.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Expertise with market access data tools (e.g., MMIT, IQVIA LAAD/DDD/Xponent, Model N, Integrichain 852/867).
  • Experience building analytics capabilities (dashboards, KPI frameworks, forecasting tools) and influencing cross-functional strategies.
  • Background in trade/channel analytics, pricing, and contracting within U.S. Market Access.
  • Experience in the pain market or retail products.
