Job Description:

The Maintenance Controls Tech III holds a general responsibility for production equipment throughout the manufacturing facility with regard to all controls (including PLCs), electrical/mechanical projects and repairs. The technician will provide lead support in various Maintenance tasks related to preventive maintenance, updating, repairing, optimizing and installing existing and new equipment. The technician will also support electrical projects initiated by Maintenance work orders, Maintenance Management or Project Engineering Personnel.

  1. Provide controls expertise on programmable logic controllers (PLCs), loop control equipment, variable frequency drives, chart recorders and operator interface devices. These devices may be used in sterilizers, lyophilizers, filling machines, air handlers, chillers, vial cappers, etc. Responsibilities include troubleshooting and repairs, performance of preventive maintenance, provide programming changes when required.
  2. Communicate controller programming information to others in an informative way to support troubleshooting and investigations. Individual must be able to train and provide detailed guidance to other maintenance technicians, and to be able to complete tasks with minimal supervision from the maintenance management and engineering staff.
  3. Will be required to lead low voltage (<480V) electrical troubleshooting and repairs while providing support for facility renovations, equipment installations, maintenance work orders, etc.
  4. Read and understand construction and machine blue prints, including machine drawings, building construction floor plans, P&ID diagrams, electrical drawings, schematics for pneumatic, gas supply, vacuum and high pressure piping systems.
  5. Understand DC, AC circuits, motor control and measuring techniques to aid in troubleshooting.
  6. Computer skills to include Microsoft Office suite proficiency, software installation and upgrades, basic computer repair, and a basic understanding of computer networking. Previous experience with SAP desired.
  7. Responsible for understanding the proper use of engineering and maintenance documentation, which is required under cGMPs. Examples include the Maintenance Work Order System, Critical Backups, Change Request System, SOP documentation, Validation documentation, etc.

Qualifications:

High School Diploma or Equivalent required

AAS Degree & Technical Certification preferred

PLC training or degree preferred

  • 4+ years related experience required
  • Microsoft Word experience required
  • Mechanical Aptitude; along with PLC duties the position will also provide mechanical maintenance support as directed by maintenance management.
  • Manual Dexterity required
  • Ability to read and understand construction and machine blue prints required
  • The incumbent must possess the knowledge typically attained through successful completion of a two year degree in a technical discipline or a technical certification with 5 to 10 years of practical experience in a process controls or applications type position. This includes the ability to write complex and detailed reports to document work completed.
  • Lead Experience, Pharmaceutical Experience, Regulated Industry Experience preferred
  • Advanced Vocational/Specialized Knowledge preferred
  • PLC Certified programming certifications preferred
  • Microsoft Excel experience preferred
  • Basic exchange of information
  • Subject to detailed instructions / established routines
  • Subject to practices/well defined policy, management reviews results after the fact
  • The PLC Maintenance Technician will be involved in multiple projects, work-orders and PMs requiring careful planning to assure completion of tasks in order of their priority. This position will allow the candidate freedom to schedule how they spend their time within the work schedules and deadlines.
  • Provides analysis, diagnosis or production tasks which noticeably impact end results
  • In the maintenance support role, the candidate will influence corrective decisions and provide critical support to ensure that goals are met.

  • The maintenance technician shall be able to achieve and maintain aseptic gown certification for working/troubleshooting in aseptic manufacturing environments.

Shift: Fri-Sun and every other Thu 6pm - 6am

Compensation & Benefits:

This is an on-site, full-time position located in Spokane, WA.

  • Hiring Wage: $39.57 - 53.54hr. depending on experience, with opportunity for growth, promotion and annual raises. Midpoint and above is reserved for employees who have longevity with Jubilant HollisterStier and consistently exhibit outstanding performance over a period of time in the role

Shift Differential pay is available for this position, and is determined by hours worked on selected shift.
