Job Summary: Manages worker's compensation claims. Investigates employee injuries and incidents for liability and compensability. Organizes files, tracking creating and distributing written correspondence, and facilitating work comp injury cases. The ideal individual will have the ability to exercise good judgment in a variety of situations, with strong written and verbal communication, administrative, and organizational skills, and the ability to maintain a realistic balance among multiple priorities. The Health & Safety Specialist will have the ability to work independently on projects and must be able to handle a wide variety of activities and confidential matters with discretion.

This person will be a self-starting and results-driven team member and will engage our operational departments in our conservation efforts. Represent Palisades Tahoe internally and externally to promote our sustainability goals.

Hourly:
The base hourly pay range below represents the low and high end of the Palisades Tahoe Resort, LLC's hourly pay range for this position. Actual pay will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to experience, education, training, location, merit system, quantity or quality of production, responsibilities, and regular and/or necessary travel. The range listed is just one component of Palisades Tahoe Resort, LLC's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term and long-term incentives and many region-specific benefits.

Base hourly pay range: $25.71 - $35.99 per hour

Essential Job Responsibilities/Duties/Tasks include the following; other duties may be assigned:
  • Provide Administrative Support for the Risk, Safety & Sustainability Management Department
  • Receives Incident Reports, responds and tracks reported incidents of injury & property damage
  • Manages worker compensation claims and communicates with injured workers, TPA, Occupational Health, pays invoices through D365
  • Trains Managers and Supervisors on the Injured Worker process, safety meetings, JHA documented training guidelines
  • Updates 300 Logs Weekly
  • Checks for accuracy and tracks departmental safety meetings
  • Participates in Incident Reviews
  • Ability to prioritize conflicting needs; handle matters expeditiously, proactively, and follow-through on projects to successful completion.
  • Organize and maintain records, files, and reports.
  • Assist with implementation of special projects.


Sustainability:
  • Supports Department, Director, and Palisades Tahoe in meeting our Sustainability goals.
  • Develop and assist with sustainability initiatives, including research sustainable opportunities and implementation.
  • Assist in development and implementation of employee-based program.
  • Assist in Sustainability outreach programing (Earth Day, Community programs etc)
  • Initiate departmental sustainability goals, communicate, and track progress.
  • Stay current on trends and news related to sustainability and other ski resorts' efforts.
  • General administrative duties including composing and responding to emails, answering phones, responding to voicemails, and filing.


Competencies and Job Requirements:

Required:
  • Able to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
  • Strong sense of customer service & safety awareness
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to multi-task with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Able to communicate in an effective, positive manner, both in person and over the phone.
  • Ability to read, comprehend instructions and respond to memos and letters.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and RTP database programs.
  • Punctual, able to report at scheduled start time and get to work during harsh winter conditions.
  • Have a neat & clean appearance in compliance with the company grooming standards


Education and Experience:

Required:
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 2 years' administrative assistant/support related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience

Preferred
  • Worker Compensation experience
  • Prior employment or strong familiarity with Palisades Tahoe

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, talk, see, and hear. Sits for extended periods of time at a computer station or work desk; stands and walks regularly throughout the day; uses hands and fingers to operate computers and office equipment for up to 8 hours each day; lifts up to 10 pounds regularly; exposed to typical office environment conditions and noise levels. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perceptions and the ability to adjust focus.

Working Conditions:

Indoor/Outdoor: While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to outside weather conditions.

Hazardous Materials/Noise: The noise level in the work place is usually moderate.
