The Customer Acceleration Team (CAT) is part of the CustomerExperienceEngineering (CxE) division within Microsoft's Security business. We work with customers from all over the world and all shapes and sizes, and we work directly with engineering to shape the product based on these customer insights. The CAT PM will handle technical aspects of customer and partner engagements with a focus on security and AI initiatives. This role entailsprovidingproactive guidance, active listening, dealing withambiguityand driving technical execution.

The key Microsoft Security products driven through our team are within the Purview portfoliowhcihinclude Data Security, Data Compliance,and Data Governance solutions. We partner closely with our Purview Product EngineeringTeams to improve our products by gathering insights from the thousands of customers we work with daily.

Responsibilities

This customer-obsessed individual, along with the broader CxE team, will engage directly with customers, support, and product engineering teams across these areas of responsibility:

  • Help customers realize the value of our products while driving usage:As a Microsoft Purview technology expert, you will enable customers toscaledeployment, adoption, and usage of our products and define our customers' experience with these services. You will use your technical subject matterexpertiseto train and enable the scale deployment ecosystem, driving investments to build better products for our scale motion. Collaborate with internal and external communities toidentifybusiness and technical requirements and spearhead the continuous improvement of our products.

  • Product & Service Insights: Partner with engineering teams, use your technical knowledge andexpertiseto help guide the future direction of our products and services. You will learn from customers,partnersand deployment efforts while collecting product insights and driving those insights into our Product Engineering teams to influence product roadmap and improve our products. Ensuring our customer and partner needs are understood and evangelized throughout the engineering organization as part of the development lifecycle is critical to our long-term business growth and sustainability.

Qualifications

Required/minimum qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 2+ years experience in product/service/program management or software development
    • OR equivalent experience.

Other Requirements:

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Additional or preferred qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree AND 5+ years experience in product/service/program management or software development
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years experience improving product metrics for a product, feature, or experience in a market (e.g., growing customer base, expanding customer usage, avoiding customer churn).
  • 2+ years experience disrupting a market for a product, feature, or experience (e.g., competitive disruption, taking the place of an established competing product).
  • 2+ years of professional Security experience (Purview experience is a plus)
  • Highly adaptable to change and comfortable pivoting in response to changing circumstances and ambiguous situations within a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
  • Experience engaging with customers and managing expectations in customer-facing roles.
  • Experience delivering concise and fact-based communications / presentations both verbal and written and adapting style and level of information based on audience (C-Level, business, architect, analysts, developers).
  • Experience evaluating and translating customer needs, requirements, and challenges, identifying solutions (positioning, technology, business value, prioritization), and communicating improvement opportunities to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • The ability to forge relationships with customers communicating on behalf of Microsoft Security engineering, facilitating understanding of the value proposition of Microsoft Purview.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Purview DSPM for AI, Microsoft Copilots (M365 Copilot, Copilot for Security, Copilot for PBI), Low Code Copilots (Copilot Studio, Microsoft Foundry),Third-Party Generative AI (ChatGPT consumer / Enterprise, Gemini, Bard, Anthropic), and protecting AI.

Product Management IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $100,600 - $199,000 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $131,400 - $215,400 per year.
