Position Summary:

At Warn Industries, over 20% of the manufacturing workforce is involved in fabrication of our mounting systems products and related accessories and parts kits. These team members report to the Director of Manufacturing Operations (DMO). A Manufacturing Engineer (Mfg Engr) at Warn challenges the status quo daily, looking for opportunities to improve flow, reduce non-value added time in our processes, refine our quality and increase productivity. The Mfg Engr will work with almost everyone at the factory: fabricators, design engineers, supply chain, assemblers, and winch manufacturing teams, finance, and IT, as well as the Production Engineering team. Warn Industries is fully committed to operating as a team-based organization. The Manufacturing Engineer is a go-to technical resource that will create, develop, and implement efficient manufacturing systems, design and develop tools and fixtures for fabrication production, work with operations personnel to improve product manufacturing or assembly, with a focus on utmost safety, efficiency and quality.

They also work with cross-functional teams to solve manufacturing related problems and continuously improve operations to reduce costs while maintaining standards of operations.

The Fabrication Manufacturing Engineer works on systems and processes specifically focused on sheet metal fabrication including press-brakes, welders, robots, laser, punches, and other sheet metal related work in the 1/16" to 3/8" stock range.

Duties/Responsibilities:

* Collaborates with senior engineers to design cost-effective manufacturing layouts and building ergonomics for new product lines.

* Designs, redesigns, or enhances work areas and layouts to reduce or eliminate that awkward or uncomfortable positions, repetitive motions, and inefficient operations.

* Maintains knowledge of best practices in manufacturing methods, and trends and developments in technology and equipment; applies this knowledge to maintain the organization's competitive edge.

* Designs and develops work-holding tools, fixtures, and tools in CAD including shop ready drawings.

* Creates and improves Work Instructions.

* Understand tolerances and their relation to manufacturability.

* Understands inspection practices and methods specific to Fabrication.

* Identifies and assesses various problems and departures from established manufacturing standards and best practices; researches and recommends solutions.

* Understands Routings, BOMs and change management systems for production.

* Develops and maintains management information, planning, and control systems.

* Implements methods and modifications to reduce production costs.

* Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

* Working knowledge of CAD programs - preferably Siemens NX.

* Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.

* Working knowledge of WARN Quality Tools (SPC, GDT, FMEA, DFA/M, etc.).

* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

* Thorough understanding of ergonomics and applicable industry standards.

* Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

* Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

* Ability to facilitate activities necessary to a project's completion.

* Must have history of impeccable integrity, ethics and fair play.

Education and Experience:

* Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering required.

* Hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment. Knowledge of machining, welding, and assembly practices is highly preferred.

* At least one year of engineering experience preferred.

Machines, Tools Equipment, Software:

Personal computer, fax machine, copy machine, other office equipment, Microsoft Office, PowerPoint. Cad, Siemens NX. The Mfg. Engr's duties may include operation of shop equipment such as welders, automated robots, assembly presses, manual and CNC machines, and basic hand tools.
