Job Description




As a Security Guard - Gatehouse Driver in Sulphur, LA, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Chemical/Petrochemical, and more. As an Access Control Officer at a chemical and petrochemical location, you will help manage entry points, issue and verify badges, and support visitor and contractor check-in while maintaining accurate logs on a computer and/or tablet. You will remain visible, conduct routine rounds nearby, and communicate clearly with site teams to help reduce security-related incidents. This is a driving post requiring a valid driver's license in the job state.

What You'll Do:

  • Provide customer service to employees, contractors, vendors, and visitors by following site-specific access procedures at a chemical and petrochemical location, including verifying credentials and issuing temporary badges as authorized.
  • Control entry and exit at gates and/or access points by screening visitors, coordinating approvals, maintaining visitor and vehicle logs, and directing traffic flow for deliveries and contractor activity.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, including notifications, radio communications, and support for emergency response activities per post orders.
  • Conduct security-related screening of packages, tools, and vehicles as required by site policy, help to identify prohibited items, and document findings according to reporting procedures.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols around buildings, parking areas, and perimeter areas when assigned, and report maintenance hazards, suspicious activity, and policy violations through written reports.

Minimum Requirements:

  • A valid driver's license is required in the state where the job is located.
  • Applicants must have 1+ years' law enforcement experience or 2+ years' security supervisor/manager experience or 3+ years' security experience.
  • Access control and/or badge experience is preferred.
  • Being comfortable using a computer and/or tablet is preferred.
  • At this site there are limited on-site facilities such as portable toilets and rustic guard shacks.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver's license will be required for driving positions only.
