Your Role at Cabot: Cabot has an exciting opportunity for a Laboratory Technician located in our Development and Manufacturing Center in Pampa, Texas. In this role you will perform the necessary tests outlined in the Cabot Test Method manual on carbon blacks and carbon black feedstock. Your role is critical to ensuring that the Pampa Plant and the Pampa Development and Manufacturing Center's production meets customer requirements. This position will work a rotating 12-hour schedule supporting all Pampa facilities.

How You'll Make an Impact: Using your knowledge, skills and abilities, you will ensure our products meet various customer specifications. This role requires a self-motivated person with a positive attitude, strong organization skills, and urgency to make things happen. A successful candidate will be someone who can:
- Effectively and efficiently perform product and raw materials testing using laboratory devices and instrumentation
- Set up and operate testing equipment for new and special tests
- Identify and immediately communicate any out of specification test results to Pampa Facilities Operations to expedite corrective action
- Record test data in spreadsheets and / or tabulates and enter test results in Laboratory Information Management System
- Calibrate testing equipment and perform equipment maintenance as needed to ensure quality results
- Notify laboratory Lead Tech / Supervisor of needed supplies
- Identify and actively participate in continuous improvement opportunities
- Demonstrate safety minded and good housekeeping habits
- Actively follow Responsible Care 14001 (RC14001) guidelines
- Performs other duties as required and assumes additional responsibility as assigned.
What You'll Bring to Cabot:
- Secondary education (High School); technical/vocational training. (2-year college/technical degree in math/science preferred)
- 1-3 years laboratory experience preferred.
- Must have valid driver's license
- General lab testing knowledge and mathematical skills to solve problems encountered in job. (Algebra, problem solving, etc.)
- Competent computer skills, specifically Microsoft Office and Outlook applications including formatting, data entry, and written communication
- Willingness to work overtime and/or possible call outs when needed
- Ability to understand how quality affects the customer's needs
- Proficient communication skills: writing and verbal and must follow instructions and communicate clearly
- Collaborative attitude and inter-personal skills; willing to share information and resources with peers
- Ability to classify and organize data in a logical and orderly way as well as plan work to ensure timely completion of assignments
- Ability to lift items and equipment weighing up to 30 lbs.
- Mechanical aptitude and manual dexterity to operate and perform basic service to laboratory equipment.
- Ability to focus for long periods of time
- Ability to stand for long periods of time
- Demonstrated Critical Thinking skills
