We are seeking a Application Consultant in the Washington, DC region.
The Application Consultant will provide ongoing system administration and maintenance for Hexagon Public Safety OnCall Records & Analytics systems at the customer site, collaborating with IT staff. Key responsibilities include troubleshooting, technical support, installation, SQL Server Database Maintenance, data management, and general system updates. The role requires participation in upgrades, user interface configuration modifications, and issue resolution with end-users. Informal training for customer staff on system administration and detailed documentation are essential duties.

The successful candidate will be instrumental in enhancing the customer's analytical capacities and operational efficiencies through their expertise with Hexagon Records Management software integrated with Microsoft Power BI solutions, while effectively communicating complex ideas to non-technical stakeholders and independently managing tasks as well as keeping management teams informed of progress.
Responsibilities:

  • Develop, update, and maintain Power BI reports and dashboards based on defined requirements.
  • Support the accuracy and validation of report data by working with existing queries and data sources.
  • Assist in maintaining and improving existing reports and data models under guidance from senior team members.
  • Create and modify SQL queries in SQL Server Management Studio to support reporting needs and data validation.
  • Develop paginated reports using Microsoft Report Builder.
  • Follow established processes for report development, documentation, and deployment.
  • Document report changes, data sources, and workflows to support team knowledge sharing.
  • Troubleshoot report and data issues by applying systematic problem-solving techniques and escalate complex issues with documented findings and attempted resolutions as needed.
  • Support ticket management activities, including updating statuses and assisting with issue resolution.
  • Participate in testing and validation of reports and system updates.
  • Collaborate with team members, subject matter experts, and stakeholders to clarify requirements and deliver solutions.
  • Demonstrate strong independent work skills to effectively manage projects with minimal supervision.

What we are expecting from you (i.e. the qualifications you must have):

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • CompTIA Security+ certification required, or ability to obtain within six (6) months of hire.
  • 2-4 years of experience in report development, data analytics, or working with relational databases.
  • Working experience with Microsoft Power BI Desktop to develop and maintain reports and dashboards.
  • Familiarity with data modeling concepts (e.g., relationships, simple schema design) and ability to work within existing data models.
  • Experience using Microsoft Report Builder or similar tools for paginated reports.
  • Experience with Microsoft Visual Studio and/or exposure to managing report or data projects in a structured environment.
  • Experience with SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS), including writing and modifying SQL queries for data retrieval and validation.
  • General understanding of data transformation and ETL concepts.
  • Ability to follow documented processes and apply guidance to complete assigned tasks.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with team members and stakeholders.
  • Willingness to learn the organization's Records Management System (RMS) and other systems, along with related data structures, to effectively perform job responsibilities and deliver high-quality work.
  • Ability to work independently in order to manage assigned tasks, prioritize workload, and seek guidance when needed.
