Emergency Department Patient Registration Specialist Location: Fishers, IN Schedule: 6pm-6am * Rotating Pay: $16/hr Environment: Fastpaced Emergency Department (ED) About the Opportunity Join a highly respected hospital system as a Patient Registration Specialist in a fastmoving, highimpact Emergency Department. In this role, you'll be one of the first points of contact for patients during some of life's most critical moments. You will help ensure accurate registration, insurance verification, and timely patient flow throughout the ED-all while providing compassionate, professional support. What You'll Do Work Across Three Key Areas of the Emergency Department 1. Front Desk * Greet and check in patients entering through the main ED doors * Collect IDs, insurance cards, and accurate demographic information * Step out from behind the desk when needed to assist patients * Collaborate with security teams to maintain safety and compliance * Welcome family/friends and document visitor presence 2. Ambulance Bay * Register incoming ambulance and helicopter patients * Listen for incoming radio alerts (stroke, trauma, GSW, etc.) * Ensure rapid, accurate documentation as patients arrive 3. ED Floor Support * Respond to overhead pages for urgent bedside registrations * Act quickly to identify patients using all available methods (ID retrieval, EMT communication, etc.) * Support staff in ensuring patients are properly documented and ready for care Key Computer & Documentation Responsibilities * Use the ED Registration Board to track patient flow, registration needs, insurance verification, and discharge status * Enter accurate patient information, insurance details, and registration updates in real time * Maintain a high level of attention to detail in a fastmoving clinical environment Why You'll Love This Role * Work in one of the most dynamic and missiondriven hospital environments * Continuous learning with crosstraining across multiple ED areas * Opportunity for career growth, promotions, and movement into other hospital departments * Make a direct, meaningful impact on patient care and the community * Paid training and support for professional development * Collaborative, teamcentered work environment What We're Looking For Required * 2+ years of customer service experience (healthcare or highvolume service preferred) * Strong dataentry accuracy and attention to detail * Ability to communicate professionally with patients, staff, and leadership * Fast thinking and ability to remain calm under pressure * Empathy and a patientcentered mindset * Adaptability and willingness to support multiple registration areas * Alignment with organizational values: Purpose, Excellence, Compassion, Teamwork Nice to Have * Bachelor's degree or progress toward one Work Environment This Emergency Department provides: * Full adult and pediatric ED services * 24/7 access to hospital specialties including CT, MRI, surgery, women's health, orthopedics, and more * Helipad access for criticalcare transport * Private patient rooms and family support areas * Seamless, integrated charting across hospital departments Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Fishers, IN. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $16.00 - $16.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
