Job Description

SHIFT: Monday - Friday, Day Shift

MISSION:

The Quality Systems Engineer is responsible for the effective maintenance, execution, and continual improvement of the plant's Quality Management System (QMS), ensuring full compliance with regulatory requirements that align with the plants daily operations.

The Quality Systems Engineer serves as a primary owner (as designated by the Quality Manager) of the primary accountabilities listed below, ensuring they are performed at the required frequency, documented accurately, and executed on time while working crossfunctionally with Production, Engineering, and Supply Chain.


PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Quality Management System (QMS) & Compliance

  1. Supports the Quality Manager in maintaining the plant's AS9100/AS13100 compliant QMS, ensuring documentation, processes, and controls remain compliant and auditready.
  2. Conducts internal QMS audits at frequency defined by the plants internal audit schedule.
  3. Manages daily/weekly workstation audits.
  4. Assures that all nonconformances relating to the QMS are evaluated, contained, and dispositioned in accordance with customer/regulatory requirements.
  5. Supports external audits (customer, thirdparty AS9100) and ensures any audit findings are closed per required timelines.

Nonconformance Management

  1. Facilitates the weekly Corrective Action Board (CAB) ensuring that milestones are met within the required date range given.
  2. Works with the relevant Quality Engineer to verify corrective action effectiveness, ensuring actions prevent recurrence and meet AS9100 expectations.
  3. Provides Quality Manager with weekly report of current RCA status.

Supplier Quality & Risk Management

  1. Manages and maintains the plant's Approved Supplier List (ASL) and reviews supplier risk on a quarterly basis, using performance data, escape trends, and previous corrective actions.
  2. Issues supplier corrective actions as needed and ensures closure of them with the collaboration of the Supply Chain and Engineering teams.
  3. Maintains traceability and record retention of Supplier Quality Audit Forms.

Continuous Improvement

  1. Provides weekly update to the Quality Manager on workstation audits completed and informs of any major findings.

Training & Competency Upkeep

  1. Ensures training and competency matrices are maintained accurately and kept current in compliance with AS9100 and AS13100 requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Minimum 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, ideally investment castings.
  2. Knowledge of and familiarity with NDT principles as well as a good understanding of inspection methods.
  3. Excellent and effective written and verbal communication skills.
  4. Ability to apply and adopt a wide variety of technical procedures under general direction and to complete work independently.
  5. Working knowledge of AS9100 requirements and core quality tools.
  6. Working knowledge of Excel, Word and PowerPoint computer programs.
  7. Experience with OEM / Tier 1 and (AS9100) aerospace audits.
