Works in Mercy Health Services Home Health Intake department and is initial contact for callers utilizing Mercy Post Acute Services referral line. Receives referral information and serves as a liaison between intake RNs and Mercy Post Acute Services office. Referral Assistant is the primary contact with insurance companies to determine patient benefits and requirements for Home Health and Home Infusion utilization. Enters initial patient information and funding sources into electronic medical record. Position Details:

Mercy St Louis and flexibility to work at Mercy South & other surrounding hospitals as needed

Mon-Fri 8a-4:30p

Qualifications
Education:
Requires high school diploma.
Experience: Minimum three to five years in a medical environment or customer service position.
Other: Typing of at least 45 wpm. Good communication/organizational skills and excellent customer service skills required. Knowledge of computers and office machines required. Ability and desire to learn new systems and processes required. Employee has regular contact with patients, families, medical staff, other health professionals, Home Services staff and insurance company staff. Employee has some effect on patient welfare; effects of errors in communicating instructions/information could be serious. Employee regularly handles confidential information. Ability to maintain confidentiality is essential. Employee must be able to perform duties in timely and accurate manner to prevent delay of delivery of essential patient care. Exposure to irate or abusive patients and families may occur.
