Overview
Provides surgical technology to direct and indirect care and service. Assist surgeon, perform operative/invasive procedures. This role will additionally provide up to date education to all staff and allow for improved patient outcomes. Qualifications Certifications: Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) - National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA); Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days - American Heart Association (AHA); Tech in Surgery (TS-C) - National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT), Education: College Diploma: Surgical Technology; Certificate of Completion: Surgical Technology, Work Experience: Responsibilities Preparation for surgeon specific operative/invasive procedure that's timely accurate, effective and efficient.
Scrubs on simple to complex procedures for a variety of specialties.
Plans, anticipates and provides for expected and unexpected intraop events.
Communicates and collaborates with others.
Surgical Lead Technician *Serve as a resource of knowledge and shares knowledge as appropriate *Precepts staff in an appropriate manner *Mentors in a positive manner *Contributes to a successful unit operations by integrating individual efforts with units goals, needs, and objectives *Assists others as needed or requested *Actions and behaviors foster teamwork; shares knowledge and ideas with management *Attempts to resolve conflicts constructively *Performs a variety of activities to ensure an efficient effective unit *Participates in quality improvement efforts *Actions and behaviors promote positive work environment *Responsible for meeting standards of practice, managing instrumentation inventory and surgeon preference cards *Provides an environment that is safe and well equipped *Communicates with staff on instrumentation changes *Identifies opportunities to improve performance and initiates appropriate action *Actions contribute to a positive work environment *Utilizes knowledge and skills to influence attitudes and behaviors *Accountable for maintaining and improving job knowledge of and skills of self and coworkers *Actively participates in the planning and implementation of measures to maintain and improve the quality of patient care *Provides all surgical techs with the mandated training *Be the lead and direct all the communication tree *Be the lead and direct all needed education that needs dispersed *Be a present role in the standard of care for patients and the most up to date practice trends *Be the educational leader for all surgical techs *Assist in the daily function of the unit in maintaining appropriate amount of needed supplies *Responsible for orientation/competency of new employees *Responsible for surgical tech scheduling process *Culture ambassador representative from the non nursing side Correspondence with central sterilization Works with labor council for the surgical tech implementation of best practice Assists with stocking, and communicates with Nurse Manager regarding supplies and instruments needed. Responsible for obtaining and updating all Physician Preference Cards for new and existing physicians. Compensation and Benefits The compensation range for this position is $27.15per hour - $45.34per hour. This represents a good faith minimum and maximum range for the role at the time of posting by Carle Health. The actual compensation offered a candidate will be dependent on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate's experience, qualifications, location, training, licenses, shifts worked and compensation model.
