We are seeking an experienced Project / Construction Manager, Professional Engineer (PE) to support clients through staff augmentation engagements. This role provides handson project and construction management expertise while integrating directly with the client's internal team to deliver complex capital, infrastructure, or vertical construction projects.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

Staff Augmentation/Project Management/Construction Management

    Act as an extension to City staff. Prepare staff reports and RFPs for engineering and construction work. Manage City funding & assist with specialty-funded projects, such as SRF, CDGB, and other State- and Federally funded projects.
  • Act as the client's representative, managing scope, schedule, budget, quality, and risk for multiple assigned projects.
  • Oversee construction activities and the City's Construction Manager to ensure compliance with contract documents, codes, safety requirements, and regulatory standards. Approve payment requests from various consultants and contractors.
  • Coordinate with designers, contractors, inspectors, and internal stakeholders to resolve technical and field issues.

Technical & Engineering Oversight

  • Provide PElevel technical review of plans, specifications, submittals, RFIs, and change orders
  • Ensure engineering decisions align with design intent, constructability, and project constraints
  • Support value engineering and costsaving initiatives without compromising quality or safety

Schedule & Cost Control

  • Develop, review, and manage project schedules and cost forecasts within the City's format.
  • Track progress, monitor performance metrics, and proactively identify risks and mitigation strategies for City projects.
  • Review contractor pay applications, cost proposals, and claims.

Stakeholder & Client Support

  • Serve as a trusted extension of the City's staff, adapting to existing processes and reporting structures
  • Facilitate project meetings, provide executivelevel status reports, and communicate key risks/issues clearly
  • Support audits, public meetings, and regulatory coordination as required

Documentation & Compliance

  • Ensure adherence to contract terms, agency standards, and permitting requirements
  • Maintain comprehensive project records, logs, and documentation for closeout
  • Support project commissioning, punch lists, and final acceptance


Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Active Professional Engineer (PE) license (California Professional Engineer or Structural Engineer)
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil, Structural, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field
  • 5-10+ years of project and/or construction management experience
  • Proven experience managing capital or construction projects (infrastructure, utilities, facilities, transportation, or vertical construction)
  • Strong working knowledge of construction contracts, drawings, specifications, and industry standards
  • Experience working in staff augmentation or clientembedded roles highly preferred

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting public agencies, utilities, or large institutional clients
  • Familiarity with CPM scheduling, cost control tools, and project management software
  • Ability to manage multiple stakeholders in regulated or highvisibility environments

The base pay range for this California position is $55.00- $85.00 per hour; Base pay offered may be higher or lower depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and location of the candidate. Restricted stock units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered.
