Job Title: CMM Operator/Inspector 3
Location: Mesa, AZ 85215
Duration: 6 months assignment with possible extension
Shift Schedule: 6:00 AM -2:30 PM
Pay Rate: $34/hr. on W2 without Benefits
Role & Responsibilities:
- Set up, program, validate, and run CMM measurement routines for machined and composite components.
- Perform first-article inspections, in-process inspections, and audit measurements using CMM, on-machine probes, laser tracker, and hand measurement tools (micrometers, calipers, height gauges, bore gauges, gage pins, etc.).
- Review and verify NC/CMM programs for accuracy and repeatability; act as an NC/CMM Programming Reviewer as needed.
- Interpret engineering drawings and apply GD&T to create and follow inspection plans.
- Record and document measurement results, generate inspection reports, and communicate findings to manufacturing and engineering to support disposition and corrective actions.
- Perform routine calibration checks and basic verification of metrology equipment; coordinate formal calibration as required.
- Mentor and train operators/inspectors on CMM operation, probing best practices, and use of hand measuring instruments.
- Work under general direction and escalate complex issues to engineering or quality as required.
Required Skills:
- 3+ years hands-on experience performing inspections and programming CMMs and other dimensional measurement systems (e.g., CMM, laser tracker, photogrammetry, portable arms, or on-machine probing).
- 3+ years' experience applying GD&T to inspection tasks and interpreting engineering drawings.
- 3+ years' experience performing inspections using on-machine probing and/or laser-tracking systems.
- Proficiency with hand measurement tools (micrometers, calipers, height gauges, bore gauges, gage pins, etc.) and experience using them for verification and troubleshooting.
- Strong attention to detail, manual dexterity, and ability to work directly on the shop floor.
Preferred Skills:
- 5+ years related inspection/CMM experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience programming and operating PC-DMIS or other CMM software.
- Experience working from CAD models to develop CMM routines.
- Experience with composite and metallic part inspection, including knowledge of composite layup and machining considerations.
- Previous experience mentoring or training other inspectors/operators.
Typical Education/Experience:
- Education/experience typically acquired through advanced education (e.g. Associate) and typically 3 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience (e.g. Bachelor+1 years' related work experience, 5 years' related work experience, etc.).
