THE POSITION

In this role, you will utilize your analytical and communication skills to provide technical assistance and advice to all levels of management in the Department of Human Services. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Human Resource Analyst 2, you will be performing a full range of employee relations functions for the Department of Human Services, an agency with over 14,000 employees who serve Pennsylvania's must vulnerable citizens. You will be responsible for coordinating and monitoring all Unemployment Compensation (UC) claims for the Department of Human Services (DHS), requiring frequent, clear, and timely communication with departmental HR staff including the director, labor relations and/or benefits staff, the Office of Legal Counsel, Governor's Office of Administration, and staff of the Third Party Administrator (TPA) for UC Claims. Work also involves serving as a Department Workplace Violence Coordinator and acting as the backup for the State Employee's Assistance Program (SEAP) Coordinator. Lastly, you will have the opportunity to review incidents and conduct investigations as necessary, recommending corrective action and advising managers on action plans to prevent future incidents.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to 3 days per week, upon successful completion of a 6-month probationary period. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office at Harrisburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year as a Human Resource Analyst 1 or Equal Opportunity Specialist 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration);or
  • Two years of analytical experience that includes one year of professional human resource or equal opportunity experience, and a bachelor's degree; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.
