THE POSITION

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this role, you will be one of the first individuals that our community members will interact with while performing a wide range of dispatch, front desk, and clerical duties to support supervisors, staff, caseworkers, administrative staff, and our customers. Our team will rely on you to perform intake duties for new customers and provide a positive impact on behalf of our Area Agency on Aging and Transportation Services.

Work involves making registration updates for existing customers, making transportation reservations, providing accurate information to drivers and customers, as well as ensuring all addresses, destinations, and other types of information are promptly and accurately updated in our computer and filing systems. You will also be responsible for performing a variety of front desk and office functions such as greeting walk-ins, answering phones, taking messages, data entry, customer service, scanning, filing, arranging staff travel accommodations and reservations, and processing mail. Meeting deadlines in a timely manner, communicating politely and effectively, and maintaining smooth paperwork flow in the office are key for success in this role.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch. This position may include irregular hours, including evenings and weekends, as well as some travel in and out of the county for meetings.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Six months as a Clerk 1 and educational development to the level of the eighth grade; or
  • Completion of a high school business curriculum; or
  • Any equivalent experience and/or training which provided the required knowledges and abilities.

Other Requirements:

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements:

  • You must pass a background investigation.
  • A conditional offer of employment will require a drug screening.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
    • Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
