Clinical Nutrition - Supervisor

Full Time - First Shift

Job Description:

The Clinical Nutrition Supervisor oversees the clinical nutrition department, performs administrative duties, and participates in patient satisfaction, quality management, and performance improvement projects. Collaborates with the leadership of Baptist Health System, other leaders in Food and Nutrition, as well as leadership in other departments, as it relates to patient care and nutrition. Plans, directs, participates, and provides optimal, age appropriate, medical nutrition therapy for hospital or physician referred patients. Supervises and participates in development and provision of nutrition education for patients, staff, and the community. This job code typically involves overseeing a clinical nutrition department at a hospital with an average daily census of less than 300.

Responsibilities:

  • Professional Leadership & Development.
    • Organizes and leads weekly RD meetings.
    • Attends and participates in monthly System Clinical Nutrition Leadership Council meetings.
    • Mentors clinical nutrition team members.
  • Regulatory Safety.
    • Adheres to facility confidentiality and patient's rights policy as outlined in the facility's HIPAA policies and procedures.
  • Indirect Patient Care
    • Establishes and implements a standardized Nutrition Care Process to identify and treat those patients requiring Medical Nutrition Therapy
    • Performs and documents nutrition assessments.
    • Maintains pertinent patient data necessary to recommend, prescribe, or modify therapeutic diets as needed to meet the nutritional needs of the patients
  • Direct Patient Care
    • Develops and provides nutrition education/counseling to patients, patient family, and patient caretakers.
    • Collaborates with other hospital services to plan and implement patient care as necessary in meeting the nutritional needs of patients (e.g. medical staff, nursing, pharmacy, social work services, etc.).

Essential Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in dietetics required for those who graduated after January 2024. Degree must be recognized by accredited University or College approved by the Accreditation Council for Education and Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND) or the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (AND).
  • Minimum Job-Related Experience - 2 years.
  • Preferred - 1 year experience as a Registered Dietician in an acute care setting.
  • Current registration with the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR)
  • Licensed Dietitian in the state of Kentucky (must obtain within 3 months of hire)
