Gain HandsOn Experience as an Instrument Person - Support Survey Projects in the Field

CHA Consulting, Inc. is seeking an Instrument Person to join our Survey Geospatial Team in Georgetown, TX on a parttime, asneeded basis. In this role, you will support surveying field crews by assisting with data collection, measurements, and equipment operation that contribute to engineering, design, and construction projects across a variety of settings. This flexible opportunity is ideal for individuals looking to gain field experience, work with industrystandard tools and technology, and support impactful projects while learning from experienced survey professionals.



What You'll Do:

    Travel to various project sites to support field data collection effort, learning and applying various survey methods, field procedures, documentation standards, and equipment operations
  • Prepare, organize, and maintain field equipment-including GPS receivers, total stations, and electronic data collectors
  • Support the Crew Chief in field calculations and sketches, preparation of field survey assignment data, as well as design and record plan content
  • Aid in record research and boundary, topographic, and construction surveys as part of a collaborative field team


What You Bring:

  • High school diploma required; A.A.S. and/or B.S. degree preferred
  • No prior experience required; however, prior internship(s) and/or applicable coursework preferred
  • Valid driver's license required with the ability to travel short-term
  • Strong math skills (trigonometry and geometry) and a willingness to learn about the surveying industry
  • Ability to lift and carry equipment over uneven terrain and work outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Strong teamwork, time-management, and communication skills with the ability to represent the firm professionally with clients and the broader public
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office preferred
  • NSPS CST Level I certification preferred

Salary Range:

$15.00 - $17.00

Salary is based on a variety of factors, including, but not limited to, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, training, and fair market evaluation based on industry standards.
