Your Role on the Team

Position Summary:

The System Director, Business Development provides enterprise-level leadership for strategic growth, partnership development, and market expansion initiatives across the UCI Health enterprise. The incumbent is accountable for identifying, evaluating, and executing business development opportunities that advance the health system's strategic and financial objectives, including new service line development, physician alignment strategies, joint ventures, and community and external partnership initiatives. This role leads the development of market intelligence, competitive analysis, and growth planning frameworks in close collaboration with senior and executive leadership. The System Director serves as a key advisor to executive leadership on organizational growth strategy and external relationship management, partnering with clinical, operational, and financial leaders to support the evaluation and implementation of strategic initiatives that enhance market position and ensure long-term organizational performance.


What It Takes to be Successful

Required Qualifications:

  • Strong planning, financial and analytical skills to effectively evaluate and lead projects of major impact to the organization
  • Proven track record of working with academic faculty and administrative leadership to achieve institutional goals.
  • Proven track record in growing commercial/Medicare
  • Previous supervisory experience
  • Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties
  • Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job
  • Minimum 8 years' experience of progressive management responsibility
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in an executive leadership role (Director or higher) in a related setting
  • Full understanding of and ability to effectively respond to elements that drive competitive advantage under dynamic conditions such as health care industry changes, competitor actions, legal/regulatory changes and technological trends
  • Experience managing multiple responsibilities while maintaining excellent customer service standards
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Bachelor's degree in business related field, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience
  • Ability to think creatively and strategically to problem solve
  • Ability to manage staff and resources consistent with goals, and in keeping the organizational vision and values. Ability to delegate and empower staff and build strong employee morale
  • Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Understanding of Stark regulations as pertinent to physician relationships
  • Knowledge of standard hospital policies, procedures and forms
  • Knowledge of lean six sigma process improvement methodologies
  • Conceptually understands electronic medical records
