Reports to: Arts Program Manager


Program: 1901- Fine Arts Village


Department: Arts Program (Studio 526)


Location: The Village - 527 Crocker Street, Los Angeles, CA 90013


Setting: 100% Onsite


Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8am - 4:30pm (Some evenings and weekends)


Status: Non-Exempt/Non-Management

Job Description Summary:


The Fine Arts Coordinator will provide leadership and coordination of arts, music, and other related programming for The People Concern members. The Coordinator will combine excellence in member services with a focus on program expansion and innovation. The coordinator will also be responsible for leadership within the community to bring in both volunteer and financial support to The People Concern's Fine Arts Program.



Job Description Essential Duties and Responsibilities:



  • Supervise day-to-day operations of The People Concern's Fine Arts Program, including but not limited to the Art Project.
  • Lead and coordinate the expansion of creative projects, including art, music, and other creative expressions for all The People Concern members.
  • Provide consultation and support across the agency in the realm of arts, music, and other member-related creative endeavors.
  • Supervise volunteers providing services and support to The People Concern Fine Arts Program.
  • Coordinate and facilitate groups and community integration events.
  • Facilitate and participate in opportunities for The People Concern members to display and sell their art or perform in the community.
  • Develop effective, trusting relationships with members, with a focus on facilitating independence and maintenance of improved physical and mental health.
  • Maintain a current, thorough knowledge of community resources relevant to the Fine Arts Program and utilize these to effectively support the work of members and The People Concern staff.
  • Work cooperatively and cohesively with other members of the Wellness Center, including participation in staff meetings, trainings, and supervision.
  • Ensure adherence to all Department of Mental Health (DMH) contract and performance standards.
  • Trauma-Informed & Client-Centered Approach Understanding of trauma-informed care principles
  • Develop and maintain complete, accurate, and current member records in electronic databases and member charts of services provided.
  • Maintain an up-to-date, accurate, and complete inventory of equipment and donations.
  • Produce monthly and quarterly Fine Arts Program reporting.



Job Description Qualifications:



  • High School diploma or GED required; bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Current, valid California Driver's License with an acceptable driving record.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent time management, organizational, written, verbal, and computer skills.
  • Ability to engage diverse populations with empathy and respect
  • Able to obtain and maintain CPR/First Aid certification.



Job Description Preferred Qualifications:



  • BFA; or BA in Illustration, Graphic Design, Music, or related field, and two years' experience working with homeless individuals, preferably those living with mental illness and/or substance addictions; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience.



Job Description Work Environment:



  • Combination of field and office environment
  • Regularly required to sit, stand, bend; occasionally lift or carry up to 35 lbs.
  • On occasion walk or drive to different local sites
  • Will necessitate working in busy and loud environments
  • Will be exposed to elements like cold, heat, dust, noise and odor
  • May need to bend, stoop, twist, and sit throughout the day
