Orrick currently has an excellent opportunity for a Senior Legal Billing Analyst in the Global Operations & Innovations Center in Wheeling, WV.


Responsibilities

We are seeking a skilled and proactive Senior Legal Billing Analyst to join our billing team. In this advanced role, you will manage a larger and more complex portfolio of billing attorneys, ensure compliance with client guidelines, and support the team with your expertise. You will play a key role in accurate and timely client invoicing, resolving complex billing issues, and contributing to process improvements.

  • Manage a portfolio of high-volume or complex billing attorneys, serving as their primary billing contact and ensuring all client billing requirements and deadlines are met.
  • Prepare, review, and finalize client invoices, including those with alternative fee arrangements or special billing requirements, in accordance with client guidelines and firm policies.
  • Submit electronic bills through various e-billing platforms, troubleshoot rejections or errors, and ensure compliance with client-specific requirements.
  • Track the status of submitted invoices, follow up on approvals, and ensure timely processing and payment.
  • Review and interpret client billing guidelines to ensure all invoices meet requirements and avoid rejections or reductions.
  • Process approved write-offs, adjustments, and discounts as directed by attorneys or management.
  • Investigate and resolve complex billing discrepancies, time entry errors, and client adjustments. Communicate effectively with attorneys and clients to clarify and resolve concerns.
  • Coordinate and utilize Legal Billing Analysts during peak billing cycles, month-end and year-end processes to ensure deadlines are met and workloads are balanced.
  • Support junior analysts by sharing best practices, answering questions, and providing informal training as needed.
  • Participate in team meetings, contribute to process improvement initiatives, and share feedback to enhance overall billing efficiency.
  • Assist with onboarding new attorneys and clients, ensuring proper setup of billing arrangements, rates, and compliance with firm and client requirements.
  • Maintain accurate and organized billing records and documentation, ensuring all information is up-to-date and audit-ready.
  • Generate and distribute regular and ad hoc billing and accounts receivable reports for attorneys, management, and clients.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of client and firm financial information at all times.

Qualifications

  • College level accounting classes or Accounting Degree or equivalent relevant work experience.
  • CMS, Elite, Javelan (or equivalent accounting software) experience.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with MS Office.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize.
  • Ability to organize work flow and use time efficiently.
  • Ability to show strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to perform at high levels in a fast-paced ever-changing work environment and successfully adapt to changing priorities and work demands.
  • Ability to anticipate work needs and follow through with minimum direction, follow up on own initiative.
  • Flexibility to adapt to all situations and work varied hours; possibly work weekends or evenings.

Compensation and Benefits

The expected salary range for this position is between $77,000.00 and $95,000.00.

Orrick is committed to providing a comprehensive, competitive, and thoughtful total compensation package to our attorneys and staff, wherever they work. This compensation and benefits information is based on the Orrick's estimate as of the date of publication and may be modified in the future. The level of pay within the range will depend on a variety of job-related factors that may include, but not limited to, qualifications, relevant experience or education, particular skills or expertise, geography. Other compensation may include an annual discretionary merit bonus, which would be determined by Firm and individual performance.
