GENERAL SUMMARY The Social Worker provides high-quality psychosocial care, including assessment, treatment planning, individual/group/family therapy, and discharge planning. They collaborate with the multidisciplinary team, support unit community relations, and serve as a resource to patients, families, and the community. The role also supports the Emergency Department and Psychiatry in rapid evaluation and disposition of patients presenting with psychiatric crises.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Conduct timely psychosocial evaluations and document within institutional standards (72 hours).
  • Develop, implement, and update individualized treatment plans in collaboration with patients, families, physicians, and payers.
  • Provide individual, group, and family therapy consistent with diagnoses and regulatory standards.
  • Perform efficient discharge planning, identify complex needs, coordinate referrals and placements, and utilize community resources.
  • Complete progress notes, assessments, and discharge plans promptly and professionally.
  • In the ED, assess behavioral/crisis conditions, use formal screening tools per Psychiatry policies, develop disposition plans, and communicate findings to the ED physician.


REQUIREMENTS



  • Licensed LGSW in the District of Columbia.
  • Master's degree in Social Work or related field (sociology, gerontology, special education, rehabilitation counseling, or psychology) from an accredited program.
  • Experience in psychiatric social work or counseling, with emphasis on adult, geriatric, and crisis management.
  • Current CPR certification.


Salary Range: Minimum 37.58/hour - Maximum 61.99/hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility. In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount, salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls, before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
