SUMMARY

The Facilities Manager is responsible for the strategic oversight, maintenance, and operational readiness of multiple manufacturing facilities and the company's logistics vehicle fleet. This role ensures that all facilities operate safely, efficiently, and in alignment with organizational goals, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices. The manager participates in crossfunctional teams during capital improvement projects, and drives continuous improvement in facility performance, reliability, and sustainability.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.

Facility Operations & Maintenance


  • Develop and execute preventive and predictive maintenance programs for buildings, production environments, office spaces, and critical systems - excludes production equipment and machinery.
  • Manage facility services including janitorial, grounds, utilities, security, and waste management.
  • Conduct regular facility inspections to ensure safety, compliance, and operational excellence.
  • Reads and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.
  • Diagnoses problems, replace or repair parts, test and make adjustments.


Fleet Management


  • Partners with Logistics Manager to oversee the company's logistics vehicle fleet, including maintenance schedules, inspections, licensing, and regulatory reporting compliance.
  • Evaluate and manage fleet vendors, maintenance providers, and telematics systems.


Project & Capital Management


  • Act as the SME for facility improvement, expansion, construction, and equipment installation projects.
  • Perform risk and needs assessments in front of capital improvement projects.
  • Develop project scopes, budgets, timelines, and manage contractors and service providers.
  • Ensure minimal downtime and disruption to manufacturing operations during projects.
  • Evaluate facility and fleet assets to recommend replacements, upgrades, or modernization strategies.
  • Continually assess existing facility infrastructure based on forecasted capacities and loads.


Safety, Compliance & Risk Management


  • Ensure all facilities comply with regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain and enforce facility safety programs and emergency response plans.


Vendor, Budget & Leadership Responsibilities


  • Develop and manage facility and fleet maintenance budgets.
  • Oversee vendor performance and negotiate contracts.
  • Partner with Production, Logistics, EHS, and Leadership teams.
  • Other duties may be assigned.


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Directly supervises employees in the facilities department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Reports to the Production and Engineering Manager any problems and issues that arise.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE


  • Associate's degree in Facilities Management, Engineering, Operations, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of facility maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of OSHA, EPA, NFPA, and DOT standards.
  • Strong project management, budgeting, and vendor-management skills.
  • Strong working knowledge of building systems (HVAC, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, fire).
  • Experience managing multiple buildings or a campus-style facility.


LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions and memos, as well as operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information one-on-one to other employees of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Must be able to walk, climb and inspect facilities including rooftops and mechanical rooms. Must be willing to travel between facilities
