This position will be for our new manufacturing facility in Joliet and will initially be employed by Hyundai Translead's corporate office but will be remote from the State of Illinois to support the launch of the Company's new manufacturing facility before transitioning to full time, onsite once the facility is operational.

Pay Range: $112,450 - $135,065

Job Summary

The Director, Maintenance is responsible for leading maintenance operations that support safe, reliable, and efficient manufacturing performance. This role develops and implements maintenance strategy to improve equipment uptime, reduce operational risk, and support production objectives through preventive and predictive maintenance programs, Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) practices, and standardized maintenance procedures.

Responsibilities include leading maintenance personnel, supporting equipment reliability initiatives, conducting risk assessment activities, promoting lockouttagout compliance, and applying PLC basics to support troubleshooting and performance improvement of production equipment across manufacturing operations.

Essential Functions


  • Establish and lead the maintenance organization across Mechanical, Electrical, PLC, Robotics/Automation, and Hydraulic/Pneumatic functions


  • Define organizational structure, roles, headcount, and shift coverage aligned to production rampup phases


  • Build maintenance governance, standard work, escalation processes, and communication cadenceDevelop skills matrix, certification standards, and longterm training and succession plans


  • Lead, coach, and develop maintenance managers, engineers, and technicians


  • Develop and implement preventive, predictive, and conditionbased maintenance strategies


  • Lead greenfield implementation and stabilization of CMMS / SAP PMEstablish PM job plans, equipment criticality, spare parts strategy, and documentation standards


  • Own equipment lifecycle management from installation through optimization and replacement


  • Lead maintenance readiness for SOP, including staffing, PMs, spares, documentation, and trainingSupport equipment installation, FAT/SAT, commissioning, and production rampup


  • Ensure stable operation of Fab Shop and Dry Trailer Assembly LinesManage maintenance KPIs including downtime, OEE, MTBF, MTTR, and cost


  • Drive root cause analysis and permanent corrective actionsEnsure compliance with OSHA, NFPA, NEC, LOTO, machine safety, and company standards


  • Partner with Production, Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, Safety, and SCMManage vendors, contractors, service agreements, and emergency support


  • Report maintenance performance and risks to Plant Leadership and HQ

  • Other duties as assigned

Essential Functions (Continued)
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related technical field
  • Minimum 12 years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing environments
  • Proven experience leading large, multi discipline maintenance organizations
  • Strong experience with new plant setup or major production ramp up
  • Deep understanding of industrial equipment, automation, and maintenance systems
  • Strong knowledge of maintenance KPIs, reliability engineering, and continuous improvement
  • Experience working in U.S. manufacturing environments with regulatory compliance

Preferred Education and Experience Requirements

  • Experience in high volume automotive, trailer, or heavy manufacturing
  • Experience managing maintenance teams of 50+ personnel
