Sulpizio Cardiovascular Center is San Diego's 1st Comprehensive Cardiovascular Center providing heart and vascular programs in one central location. Global leader and international referral center in Pulmonary Thromboendarterectomy (PTE). The Sulpizio Cardiovascular center is a heart and lung transplant center with the only lung transplant program in San Diego County. The Ventricular Assist Device program boast some of the best outcomes in the nation, and provides therapy with 5 different devices.

The Registered Nurse identifies and implements nursing interventions and evaluates results for a wide variety of patient populations. Some of these patients include heart and lung transplants, PTE patients, CABGs, valves, TAVR's, and Ventricular Assist Devices. Stroke and Vascular Surgical patients will be on this floor as well. This unit utilizes advanced training and skills to take care of high acuity and complex patients. The Clinical Nurse directs and acts as a resource to all other members of the nursing team as assigned. Promotes compliance and support of policies and procedures. Achieves trust in professional collegial relationships.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Must be a graduate from an accredited school of Nursing.

  • RN License issued by the State of California.

  • BLS/CPR and ACLS certifications at time of hire with commitment to get ART within six (6) months of hire date.

  • Must have a minimum of one (1) year recent adult ICU experience.

  • Ability to at all times adhere to UCSD Health Medical Center (C.A.R.I.N.G.) Standards of Performance, and demonstrate the characteristics of professionalism in attire, attitude, conversation, behavior and attentiveness to others.

  • Demonstrates the ability to function effectively in a high-acuity, fast-paced clinical environment while adapting to frequent workflow changes, managing stress, and maintaining professionalism.

  • Utilizes strong critical thinking and analytical skills to manage multiple competing priorities, rapidly assess complex clinical situations, and implement appropriate interventions.

  • Communicates effectively and collaborates with interdisciplinary team members to support safe, high-quality patient care and promote a respectful, inclusive workplace culture.

  • Actively engages in continuous learning and professional development to meet the evolving demands of the CVICU specialty.

  • Maintains a positive, solution-oriented approach to challenges, encourages teamwork and open communication, and remains receptive to feedback to support individual and team growth.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • BSN.
  • CT/Heart experience.
  • CCRN, CSC, and CMC certifications.
  • Experience with cardiothoracic patients.
  • Experience with balloon pumps, CRRT, and/or VAD.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS
  • Must be able to work various hours, days, shifts, on-call and various locations based on the 24-hour Medical Center's business needs.
  • Must have flexibility in scheduling and availability to work varied shifts as required to support unit operations, staffing needs, and timely completion of training.
  • Selected candidate may be hired at the CNIII level pending review and approval by the Nurse Executive Council.
  • Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $138,330 - $193,892 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $66.25 - $92.86

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
