Job Title: Windows Systems Administrator
Clearance Required: DHS Public Trust, US Citizen (Secret Clearance or above preferred)
Work Location: Hybrid; onsite 2-5 times a week in Lorton, VA (Applicant must be based within a commutable distance (1-2 hours) within the DMV)

Alpha Omega is seeking a qualified Windows Systems Administrator in support of our DHS ICE customer.

The Windows Systems Administrator will be responsible for the administration, automation, and security of the organization's Windows server and virtual infrastructure. This role requires advanced expertise in Microsoft Hyper-V and Windows Server environments, with a strong focus on virtualization, automation, and centralized management. The ideal candidate will be highly skilled in PowerShell scripting, Group Policy and security best practices, and have experience with software deployment and patch management across diverse environments. Familiarity with Linux OS, cloud platforms, and technical documentation is also essential.

Key Responsibilities:



  • Develop and implement automated solutions for reporting, VM provisioning, and patching using PowerShell.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation for system configurations, processes, and procedures; create and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Install, configure, and maintain mid/large-scale Windows Server environments (100+ servers, Windows Server 2019).
  • Design, deploy, and manage virtual machines and clusters using Microsoft Hyper-V, including host management, storage, and network configuration.
  • Apply Group Policies (GPO) and security best practices to secure both physical and virtual infrastructure, including Hyper-V and Active Directory.
  • Administer and troubleshoot core Windows services such as Active Directory and WSUS.
  • Oversee centralized software deployment, patch management, and asset tracking across Windows and macOS environments using tools such as PDQ Deploy, SCCM, or similar platforms.
  • Monitor and optimize server and network performance, proactively identifying and resolving issues.
  • Ensure compliance with security standards and regulatory requirements throughout the infrastructure.
  • Provide basic administration and troubleshooting for Linux servers as needed.
  • Manage and support Cisco/Meraki cloud and on-premise network devices (switches, routers, wireless access points, security appliances).
  • Collaborate with IT teams to ensure best practices in systems engineering, security, and compliance.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies in virtualization, systems management, and cloud integration.



Required Qualifications:

Required Experience/Skills:



  • 10+ years Windows Systems Administrator Experience
  • Knowledge of various agile business analysis techniques including interviewing, brainstorming, problem discovery, and MVP identification.
  • Experience collaborating with stakeholders at varied levels
  • Experience in supporting business and project teams in translating complex business needs into user stories
  • Ability to test user stories against acceptance criteria
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and proven ability to ask probing questions to business team members
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities effectively
  • Experience using JIRA and Confluence
  • Advanced level PowerShell scripting for automation, monitoring, and administration.
  • Proven experience with Microsoft Hyper-V and Windows Server environments.
  • Deep understanding of virtualization concepts, clustering, storage (SAN/NAS), and networking.
  • Experience with centralized management of software deployment, patching, and system tracking (e.g., PDQ Deploy, SCCM, or similar).
  • Strong knowledge of Active Directory, WSUS, and Group Policy management.
  • Demonstrated ability to implement security best practices and compliance controls, especially within virtualized environments.
  • Experience with Video Management System software (e.g., XProtect Milestone or similar).
  • Experience with centralized log management and monitoring tools (e.g., WhatsUp Gold, Splunk or Centralized Windows Event Log Event Server).
  • Experience with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS) and integration.
  • Hands-on experience with Cisco/Meraki device management.
  • Working knowledge of Linux OS administration and troubleshooting.
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Proven experience in technical documentation and SOP creation/maintenance.

Salary and Benefit Information:

The likely salary range for this position is $70,000 - $130,000. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. There are multiple factors that are considered in determining final pay for a position, including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and competencies that align to the specified role, education and certifications as well as contract provisions regarding labor categories that are specific to the position and could fall outside of this range.
